Pet names inspired by foreign travel
We are picking up our German Shepherd puppy this weekend and are at a loss for her name. Our other animals have (or had in the case of our deceased pets) names that were inspired by our travels: Achillies, Artemis, Verona, and Napolean.
So... please post any travel-related names for pets

Our pet's name was inspired by our first family trip to Italy in 2000. My son drank Fanta orange soda's while in Italy and said that he wanted to get an orange cat and name it Fanta. We did and a fordorite sent me a metal Fanta bottle cap from Italy that is used as a name tag.

Thisreminds me of the hilarious books by Gerald Durrell "My family and Other Animals" and "Birds, Beasts and Relatives" recounting the glorious days growing up in Corfu in the 50's. His mother acquired 2 dogs and the family jumped into the fray in attempting to name them appropriately.
Their apparent behaviour won out and they were eventually given the monikers 'Widdle" and "Puke".

Our golden retriever's name is Lyra - we got her just before our first trip to Italy. We were thinking of breeding her and using the money we'd earn to finance our travel. So far we haven't gotten around to breeding her yet, but we might.

I wasn't being facetious when I suggested Achtung. Our German Shepard, Midnight, found us. She was apparently either hit by or run over by a car, three legs broken, shot through the face, blind in one eye. She found her way to our front porch and just laid down. We found her in the morning when we left for work. She has been our early warning system ever since. A more grateful dog does not exist, nor a smarter one. You will love your pup.

Have you travelled abroad? Is there someplace special you remember, or something special that you heard or saw, or did while there?
My parent's got a dog shortly after visiting Finland. They named him Savu - short for a town they visited on their trip. They also had a cat named Sibelius - a famous Finnish composer.
Just a thought.
