Perpignan, France

We will be staying here for a week with friends. Can you please suggest nice day trips - villages, wineries, beautiful scenery?? We don't really want to go more than 1.5 hrs. afield but is there enough in an 1.5 radius to keep us busy!

Collioure is a beautiful little seaside town south of Perpignan; it is not far from the Spanish border. It was home to many artists over the years, and there is a castle to visit. Certainly worth a day trip. Also the medieval fortified village of Castelnou is not far away; it is less well known than Carcassonne but charming in its own right. There's a lovely restaurant which is nice for dinner. Have a wonderful time!

Some of those places on the list are a lot farther away than a 1 1/2 hrs.
