PASSPORT QUESTION
Hello. I am an American student, studying in Prague this summer. Our class will be taking a trip to Slovakia, so I was wondering if I need me American passport to cross the border. If so, will they stamp it? If I don't need one, will they still stamp it. I would really want them to stamp it.

When I've crossed borders on a bus we only stop for a minute or two and the driver talks to the border official. I would check with your teacher about getting the passport stamped. I'm sure the other students would want theirs stamped as well and maybe your teacher can make arrangements with the bus driver to get all the passports stamped together.
Best to talk about this ahead of time before you get on the bus so arrangements can be made up front.

I took a similar trip a few years ago and when the border guards came on the bus they just went down the aisle and glanced at passports. When they got to me I just asked them if they would stamp it and they gladly did. The guy had the stamp in his pocket...Good luck and have a great trip!

I doubt that you will see anyone around at the border to stamp your passport since both Czech and Slovak Republic joined the Schengen area end of last year, i.e. no more border controls.
Yet, I would assume that you always need to carry ID under the visa/ immigration regulations of either country.
