Parking at Guggenheim
I have read that parking your rental car in the lot provided at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao carries a high risk of any luggage in the trunk being stolen. Seems it is well-known that people often visit the museum while driving to their next night's destination. Does anyone know of a better place to park and still have reasonably easy access to the museum?

Gugen museum is very close to the town center. You can use any private parking lot in the town and will be at walking distance from the museum.
A nice option is using the parking at the Euskalduna Building, usually free, (to reach it, ask to anyone about the "parking of Palacio Euskalduna") and walk along the river by a recently open park from there to the museum (500 mt - sight distance)

Hi Wendy,
the parking lot at the Guggenheim has almost disappeared due to the ongoing urbanization work (expanding the park, the tramway, a new university library ...).
The Euskalduna is a good option, and not many people think about it. If you park there, you will arrive to the Guggenheim in less than 10 minutes, walking along the new riverside promenade. The following website will give you detailed indications on how to arrive to the Euskalduna :
http://web.bizkaia.net/pcongresos/
Press ENTER, then BUILDING, then HOW TO GET THERE, and then finally TO THE EUSKALDUNA CENTRE. As you can see, it mentions a Car Park. There you are.
The new Maritime Museum is just around the corner, but I don't think it will be open. Ask anyone, and they will tell you how to arrive to the Guggenheim.
Tomorrow the tramway stop at the Guggenheim will open, so when you finish your visit, you will be able to jump into the tram and head into the Old Town.
Enjoy your visit, Cova
