Paris WWII tours

Has anyone had any experience with WWII tours in Paris? I found an outfit called Localers that does a 3 hour tour. Maybe you know something about them or have some other suggestions.

I agree with Ron on that museum, quite good, and of course there is an extensive section in the Invalides military museum, also.

I've only done tours in Normandy about WWII, I saw there webpage and it sounds like they are just touring in the Marais and talking about things. That could be interesting if they are good, but I've never heard of them before. At least it's something new compared to a lot of the same old walking tours I read about. Price isn't too bad, I guess (59 GBP), but they are discriminating as they won't allow singles to sign up. What's up with that, they will only pricing if there are at least 2 people in your party. None of the guides are remotely qualified in terms of having history majors or specialties, but I guess they just learn the stories.

Here are some alternatives

There is this outfit, also, which does private tours. That would be expensive for 1-2 but if you had more people, maybe not. http://www.history-paris.com/2012/02...d-war-2-paris/

Paris Walks does one called Paris Under the Occupation, but not regularly, they say look at their monthly guide for dates

You don't have to sign up ahead on that one. They are doing one on Sept 3 and 24th.

Christine- Thanks. I had noticed the same thing about them which is why I was asking. You're also right in that Paris Walks doesn't offer that tour regularly at all. We'll be there mid October and that schedule isn't posted yet. I guess we'll wait and see. In the meantime, I'll look at your other suggestions.

RomZ- For some reason my kids are not nearly as excited about information they get from me or from museums. I guess I'm not the best story teller. : ( I will however look at the location in Montparnasse.

Thank you

The Musée de la Résistance is superb, especially if you've read up on the Resistance and Jean-Moulin. So are the exhibits in the Musée de l'Armée, one of my favorite museums in Paris and one that my kids could always relate to. They have some excellent special exhibits from time to time. The Résistance is fascinating. I live in an area where many of the old people were active participants in helping people escape over the Pyrenées to Spain and their stories are fascinating. You should encourage your kids to read about this. There are many wonderful books.
