PARIS - Without museums

PARIS for 5 days in Mid July 2016

We are a family of 3 (daughter aged 9 years) and are planning our first Europe trip including PARIS for 5 days. We are not much into MUSEUMS/CHURCHES/HISTORY. We would definitely be visiting DISNEYLAND for atleast 1 day (2years back we visited Universal studios in Singapore) and were there only for 1 day which we regretted, so maybe this time we may visit DISNEYLAND for 2 days.

My question is
1. We are on a budget and prices to stay in the 5 hotel in DISNEYLAND main area is quite high, so if we are visiting DLP for 2 days should we stay in a hotel(budget hotel like keniard etc) close to disneyland or visit it on both day from main Paris area

2. EIFEL towel should be visited in Day or NIGHT when the whole paris is lit

3. We are not much into Museums, so what else could you recommend for us in PARIS

thanks a lot for making suggestions for our trip

You can stay in cheaper hotels not far from Disneyland, for example near the RER stations of Lognes, Torcy or Noisy-le-Grand. It would only take about 10-15 minutes to reach the parks from those stations by train.

You will not have any difficulty finding things of interest in Paris even if you do not visit any museums or churches. It might be best to at least leaf through a guidebook to get some ideas, since you have told us what you don't like but not really what you like other than amusement parks.

The Eiffel Tower is good day or night if the day is clear. That is the main thing to keep in mind. I don't really understand the people who reserve advance tickets and are obliged to go on a hazy or rainy day, just because they don't want to wait in line.

That second post was interesting but the first one was probably more helpful.

I agree about not buying advance tickets to the Eiffel Tower. Many people don't know that the tower is sometimes closed due to bad weather with no advance notice so you might have spent money for nothing since there are no refunds.

If you are interested and in decent shape you won't have to wait in line more than a few minutes if you climb the stairs. Most people are happy with the vue from the first platform but you can go up to the next level via the stairs.

This is not a traditional museum but most people get a kick out of going here. It's very easy to get to. You do have to reserve in advance but the tours are never cancelled so it's a good bet.

A boat ride on the Seine might be fun, and the Luxembourg Gardens are a great place for a child.

I know you don't like museums, but the Rodin Museum has an outside sculpture garden which is very nice, and it costs a lot less to enter than to go to the museum itself. Lots of people bring their kids there on nice days, and there's also a café where you can get a snack or a light meal.

There are also some large parks on the outskirts of the city, like the Bois de Boulogne, where you could easily spend a day. If it's hot, it should be cooler there than in the center of the city.

It should be mentioned that it does not get dark in Paris in mid-July until 22:30 so it might be a little late for your daughter to see the Eiffel Tower after dark.

Fat Tire Bike tours.. ( yes they have childrens bikes).. take the one to Giverny.. it was one of my faves.. a day out of the city.. Easy peddling.. beautiful countryside.

I took my 11 yr old dd .. her fave memories( excluding our museum visits.. which she actually did enjoy!) were climbing the Towers of Notre Dame ( get there before they open in morning .. lines move slow!), climbing the Eiffel Tower, boat cruise, Luxembourg Gardens, Jardin d'Acclimatation( childrens park, some rides, mini golf, puppet shows, pony rides , some animals.. nice afternoon off)
