Hi All we have returned from our adventures. Paris went well damp our 4 days there but all and all it went well. I can see how casual it generally is and the dressing concerned are way over done by most. We went to the top of the Eiffel tower we tried some museums but I tell the crowds were enormous even this time of year. We did river cruise, which was located on by the Eiffel tower. Ate at some fun trendy cafes. Walked nearly 9 miles one day.
So no one told me about the lady with the ring scam?? I can't say I really totally fell for it, but through the kindness of my heart I gave her a few euros in change that was handy to reach. Walking along the river bank we see a lady pick up a ring. A gold wedding band. She asks us if it is ours no she doesn't speak English looking for police to give it to I assume she mentioned Police. She then asks me to read inscription we do take it and try then she won't take the ring back the asked for money for coffee, I can get it and understand. Silly. Now we have this silly ring. We try and try to give back to her she won't take it. I would have given her the euros for coffee and she could have kept the ring for all I cared. I didn't want the ring! lol. thanks for all your help we liked Paris we stayed in Monmarte section and could walk up to the beautiful church on the hill. Sare-de Cortad? (something like that) Not sure the area was real convenient but we used a bus and a subway to get around.

Sacre Coeur (Blessed Heart).
Montmartre
Surprised you hadn't heard about the ring scam, as it's all over the internet, but at least you didn't lose much money and weren't harmed in any way.
Glad to hear you enjoyed Paris!

Thanks for the correction--yes that was it--a lovely place indeed.
No I did not hear of the scam but you know I would have given her the euros anyway. No problem. Thanks StCirq. Now I have a question it would seem if I read people correctly that being 2 tour guides who were French, they are quite skeptic of the Princess Diane outcome in fact quite skeptics in general. I found it interesting he said "Americans believe what they are told, we do not we question everything." He was embedded in the culture. He said a lot of things, but that really stand out for me.
