Paris walking distance help - rue scheffer

Hi everyone,

I am trying to decide between several apartments in Paris for my honeymoon. I would love to be within walking distance to Rue Cler. My problem is that I am terrible with judging walking distance on maps! For those of you who know Paris - How long would it take to walk from Rue Scheffer to Rue Cler?

Ok, I hope copy-pasting this URL will work: http://www11.mappy.com/sidK+jqmEVI3U...&image.y=6

Otherwise, go to www.mappy.com, type in your 2 addresses, and choose 'pedestrian' where it standard says 'express'. They say it's 2,5 km by the way.

Anytime you have such a long url, you can shorten it by pasting it into the field on:

Oh dear, sorry for messing up this post so much with my long link. Perhaps something for the forum moderators to prevent this kind of stuff from happening? Thanks for the linktrim info, Travelnut. I now tried copy-pasting the original link myself and it doesn't work. Anyway, hope the info beneath it helps christygirl anyway.

What's your definiton of walking distance? You could walk there, of course, but it's not close enough that you are going to pop in for a croissant. Do you have a map of Paris? It's not on the same side of the river.

It depends where on Scheffer, but I believe from another post it's probably not the end of the street closest to the Seine (ie near Pompe metro stop), thus it appears to be around 800 meters (0.5 mile) from there to the Seine, and then about that same distance again to rue Cler.

I think you may be under the impression rue Cler is the only place in Paris to buy food or something special? It's not, there are plenty of good shops, food, and even market streets closer to that location.

It's not next door by any means 16th to the 6th. It would be a nice walk though by the eiffel tower, cross the river etc; but I would choose an apartment closer to rue cler if i were you.

From the northwestern end of Rue Scheffer (closest to Ave Georges Mandel, furthest from the Seine)
to the middle of the Rue Cler block between Rue de Grenelle and Rue du Champ-de-Mars),
it's about 2.6 km (a little over 1.5 miles).
