Paris' unexplored curiosities, part 3
So here I am back for my annual visit to the City of Light, in year 3 of what is shaping up to be a 10 year program, at 2 arrondissements each time. With over 30 visits to Paris, I've now given myself over to a couple of books which provide small and unusual tastes of the city, as described previously: Paris: more unexplored curiosities. I'm once again using a phototravelogue style, where the trip report is basically the detailed captions in a series of Google Photos albums.

Coquelicot, my advanced research consisted simply of route planning from the two main guides used: Rodolphe Trouilleux's interesting "Unexplored Paris," and Dominique Lesbros' extraordinary "Curiosities of Paris." I used my favorite map, Michael Middleditch's "The Paris Mapguide" to try to create an optimum route - no easy task: this becomes the classic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Travel...lesman_problem) Traveling Salesman Problem! But of course part of the pleasure in all this walking is encountering, flaneur style, the unexpected as well as the planned - one of the true delights of Paris, of course!

And now your eye is trained to catch these architectural details anywhere you go in Paris.
I wondered if you used the monuments historiques website, Base Merimee, or an unofficial website, Monumentum, which tries to pinpoint their locations,
I was glad to see you went to Meaux. We used to consider staying there the night before our flight home, but the town itself didn't sound like much. You found some interesting sites there, though.

I have still never been to Meaux although I have driven past it at least a hundred times over the years. (Even more impressive when you consider the fact that I have never owned a car -- but my family ties are in eastern France farther along the A4 autoroute.) Ever since the WW1 museum opened, I have been promising myself to go there, and I have absolutely no excuse for not doing so since the Meaux train station is covered by my Navigo pass.
