Paris trip

I am going to Paris next week and had a few questions. First is anyone familiar with the Hotel Burgundy where I will be staying? Second, what is the policy for use of cameras and camcorders in the museums? Finally, can anyone recommend any restaurants; preferably, suggest two expensive and two moderately priced. Thanks!

Policies regarding photography are usually posted near the entrance or ticket counter. Most privately owned museums (i.e. The Musée Jacquemart-André that is owned by the Institut de France) do not allow photography of any kind, other museums, such as the Louvre, allow you to use your camera but ask that you turn off the flash.

What type of food are you looking for and what area would you like to eat at?

You're staying in the 1eme? I can recommend a restaurant...across from the east facade of the Louvre, Adm. Coligny Blvd. where it meets Rue du Rivoli...its called, La Fumoir. Excellent menu. Fine creative chef. Superb wine list (but I stuck with the house suggestions and they were just delicious) AND it doesn't break the bank! ...I remember a salad with smoked duck... yummy...and then a filet topped with fois gras, melting into a red wine/shallot sauce... 27E's, not too bad...

Musee d'Orsay, Centre Pompidou, Louvre, and Musee Rodin are all okay with bringing in cameras and camcorders. Don't recall the rest.

Please don't use your flash - it is damaging to the art. Use a higher speed film (400 or 800) - you will be able to photograph very nicely in a well-lit room.

Hi
Just confirming that I own what is basically a point and shoot camera, and I have had pictures come out clearly and well-lit without using flash in the Louvre. I use 400 film.
However, I will add that in addition to a souvenir photo or two, postcards from the gift shop are good options, and there won't be strangers in the photos.

Try Le Grand Cafe. On Blvd Capucines just past the Place de l'Opera.
