Both about the same. They both require a transfer in the metro to a 2nd train.Take the metro from Montparnasse direction Pte de la Chapelle. Get off at station Concorde and transfer to the train direction Chateau de Vincennes. Get off at station Palais Royal. Louvre is across the street. Or from Austerlitz take it direction Bobigny - get off at Bastille and transfer to train direction La Defense. Get off at Palais Royal. For more Paris information e-mail me: [email protected]

Or, from Gare d'Austerlitz, take the #10 to Jussieu (only goes one direction; terminus at Austerlitz) and change to #7 direction La Courneuve and get off at Palais Royal. Some of this depends where you are in the "Louvre" area - if you're going to your hotel in the Louvre area, they'll have the closest metro stop (Mo) in their address. The #1 stops at Louvre/Rivoli and Tuileries; the #7 at Pyramides.

If there are more than one of you, a taxi might be a better option (especially if you're unfamiliar with the city or where exactly your hotel is located).
