Paris - So many restaurants, so little time...
When I was in Paris last August, nearly every restaurant I wanted to visit was closed for the summer holiday so, next month, I have some catching up to do!
Here's my restaurant "wish list":
Au bon Accueil
Le Florimond
Le P'tit Troquet
L'Affriole
Le Reminet
I'll be staying in the 7th for 5 nights, but will attend the opera or ballet one night, which gives me 4 nice dinners out. Which of these would you not miss? Which would you eliminate? Which would you suggest for an earlier, "first night" meal? Finally, are there any that I simply must add? I'll be dining solo, if that makes a difference. Oh, what dilemmas! Thanks.

I was "solo" in Paris in November and had a lot of good meals. Based on your initial list you seem to have the same taste as I do. Here is a cut and paste from a recent posting I made. These are all great choices and you will have no problems dining solo. I only recommend that you go to lunch or dinner early or late to avoid being crunched in the middle of everything. My listing is in priority order of my favorites. I also recommend getting the Time Out book "Paris Eating and Drinking" for a lot of good neighborhood suggestions.

Here are the bistros....
Le Caveau de l'Isle
36 rue Saint Louis en l'Isle 4e arr, Paris
Metro- Pont Marie (closer) or St Paul
Open everyday for lunch and dinner

One of my favorites. High quality and beautifully served food at a reasonable price. This bistro also has friendly service and a warm atmosphere. 3 course lunch or dinner is 19.95 euro. I've been there 3 times and I have never been disappointed. Its on the Ile St Louis so you can also do some shopping and sightseeing while you are here.

Le Petit Troquet
28 rue de l'Exposition 7e arr., Paris
Metro - Ecole Militaire
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. Beautifully prepared food and a warm welcome. Service is humble and friendly. I thought the food was more creative than most other places. This place has a nice atmosphere and a good 3 course menu for 28 euro.

Le Florimond
19 ave Motte Piquet 7th arr.
Paris - Tel - 01 45 55 40 38

A very friendly place near the Eiffel Tower with excellent food and a warm welcome. 3 course lunch is about 24 euro. Always a smile and yummy food.

La Cafetiere
21 rue Mazarine 6e arr., Paris
Metro - Odeon
22 euro for a 3 course lunch. Located in St Germain. The food here is typical French and the atmospohere is tight but warm. Its a little more modern than most.

Le Tir-Bouchon
22 rue Tiquetonne
2e arr., Paris
Metro - Etienne Marcel

This is one of my new "finds" from my recent trip. Its a cozy little place with relaxed service and some really well prepared food. The food is what i would call comfort food like your mommy would make. 3 course dinner menu is 28 euro.

For a good meal on the street or in your room pick up a fallafel at L'As du Fallafel, 34 rue des Rosiers in the Marais. They say it the best in the world. Across the street is Florence Finkelsztajn (19 Rue
des Rosiers), pick up a piece of their delctable and soft creamy cheesecake.
One other place I like that i didn't go to this year was Le Relais Saint Paul, 33 rue Francois Miron. Its a soft lit cozy place where you can have a nice quiet dinner. The fixed price menu is pretty good and I really loved the cheese plate.

Thanks, Richard. We sure do have similar tastes. Last August, I, too, enjoyed Le Caveau de L'Isle and the Falafel place! I'll read through the rest of your reviews.
BTW, how come my post showed 3 replies, but Richardab's was the only one I could pull up? Weird.

Au bon Accueil-ahve eaten there twice and been disappointed twice. had heard so much about it and could not believe how it did not meet w/ expectations. am not returning there for our next trip.
Le P'tit Troquet-ate there once. very basic food. disappointing. all american.
I am considering Le Reminet for our next trip too.
we stay in the 7th too but don't eat too many dinners there. don't limit yourself there. it is great to walk back after dinner.
