Paris shuttle/cab?
There will be four of us arriving in Paris. It would seem that the best way to get to our hotel in the 7th eme would be by taxi.
Does anyone out there know if Paris has taxi's large enough to accomodate 4 people with luggage, or should we take the shutttle route? It seems that a taxi would be more convenient as well as cheaper.

I've been told that Paris taxis don't allow a passenger in the front seat and therefore can hold only three. A shuttle would probably be your best bet. People have recommended www.airport-connection.com for CDG.

I've been attacked on this site for making this recommendation before, but I'll try again because I have done it. You can take the airport terminal bus, operated under contract by one of the airlines as I recall, into town and get off at the Montparnasse stop. From there, I would bet you could get four into a taxi to take you to your hotel. Good luck.

I was in Paris last August and we never found a cab willing to take four of us, luggage or no luggage. We used the PariShuttle, and found it to be the best for us, and the per person price decreases when the group is larger. We had a delightful, funny driver who gave us a running dialogue all the way into town, and the return driver was a big help with our luggage at the airport.

You can get a taxi for 4 people and luggage. It may take a little longer but just go to the taxi line, hold up 4 fingers and look inquiring. There is a supplement charge for the 4th person and for luggage. It will cost about 300FF to the 7eme--cheaper than the shuttle or combination suggestion. When looking for a taxi for 4 withing Paris go to the cab stands. Again there is an extra charge. Personal experience.
When leaving your hotel have them call a cab and be explicit that it is for 4 with luggage.

I agree with Gretchen. YOu just may need to wait a little longer, but tghere are more larger taxis now, and it can be more convenient or as cheap as a taxi. However, given someone's experience saying it never worked, I might book a shuttle also, even though I would never otherwise.

I would not recommend the AF bus to Montparnasse tower for several reasons--the obvious, as you noted, you will still have to take a cab from there. I think you'd be much more likely to find a cab for 4 at the airport than at Montparnasse. Also, for four people it will cost more to do it that way than just taking a cab or shuttle from the airport (AF bus to Montparnasse is about $8-10 per person and then you'd have a cab fare on top of that). If you do that and then need two cabs from Montparnasse, the bucks are really adding up (AF busx4 + maybe $20-25 cab fare?), but that would be another way to go if you didn't want a shuttle and were afraid to wait for a large cab or couldn't get one at CDG.
I will be arriving at CDG next Thursday with my wife and 2 young sons. Is it true that we will be unable to find a cab to take us to the 1st? i am geeting mixed vibes for the boards here. Any info would be appreciated. As we are staying in Les Halles, in any mode of transport preferrable to another?

So... it sounds like a) one shuttle or b) two taxis or c) wait for a taxi/van that can hold 4 passengers. B) will be the most expensive C) sounds like a potential wait.... I'd choose A) shuttle, either www.parishuttle.com or ww.airport-connection.com
