Paris Restaurants cut prices

Is this a sign of the flagging world economy or just an advertising ploy? Scroll down through the list and you will see prices crossed out and lowered. Au Metro for example:
28euros now 16euros for a three course meal. Sounds good to me!

I was checking out some restaurant recommendations and came across this on the web. Might be useful to others heading for Paris.

Thanks, seems useful! But, in order to get the crossed-out prices, I think you have to print out the coupon. I admit, I'm not comfortable submitting coupons in nice restaurants.

Thanks for pointing that out Mariarosa - never saw that and agree it might bring on puzzled looks and lots of huddled discussian after you have presented the coupon! OW!
In any case, a restaurant runs like any other business and you get what you pay for. They would have to make cuts somewhere - like less on the plate, maybe ?? Oh well.

Obviously the restaurants know they are offering coupons for reduced prices , so why would it bother you to use them?

Why would you not use a coupon. The restaurants are undoubtedly looking for business--its an advertising thing (I would imagine their business is off). You wouldn't present the coupon until you have your bill so they won't even know you are using a coupon when you order.
