Paul,
I'm not certain about this. I've used the web site, www.reservethebest.com for better Paris restaurants & they do send an e-mail confirmation. For just the average brasserie or something, I plan to ask our hotel concierge to do this.
BC

I second BookChicks suggestion of using , reserve the best, I have had great luck with them You will get the confirmation directly from the hotel or restaurant . There was only 1 restaurant we wanted to go to that wasn't on their list so I will telephone for a reservation as on another thread here someone said the maitre d' spoke english and they heard him taking reservations by phone.

JOdy,
You are how I found out about them, and "thank you", "merci Beaucoup"!!!!

We're going to have dinner at La Fermette Marbeauf 1900, & that's how I booked the reservation.
Gratefully,
BC

P.S. Paul, if you're going past a place you'd like to have dinner & they're open, you can always ask if you can reserve for dinner. They're happy to get the inquiry & if they can't accomodate you, they usually look sad & ask if you will come back another night.

When visiting Paris, I usually stay in an apartment, so I have no help from a concierge to make reservations. I fax those restaurants that I am interested in and assume that I have a reservation. After arriving in Paris, I call or stop by to confirm. I have never had a reply fax from any of them but they always have my name on the book. I've also made a few reservations at Reserve the Best and a few by e-mail (when available). Have a great time in Paris!

Many Paris restaurants have e-mail addresses allowing you to e-mail them a reservation request directly, and they will reply via e-mail. You can usually get the e-mail addresses from their website. I have successfully done this with Chantairelle, La Bastide Odeon, La Fontaine de Mars, and I can't remember which others. Bonne chance.

Restaurant is not included on Reservethebest list. Too new and perhaps too hot. This is not the first time I have had problems with FAX reservations in Paris restaurants. Why do they give out FAX numbers anyway? I will probably have to give them a call. Thanks for the suggestions.

Paul, You will have to call Astrance and they will only take your reservation one month in advance. Already tried to book for September and was told I would have to call in August.Their number is 01 40 50 84 40. Hope it works out for you! Bon appetit.
