Thanks everyone that has been very helpful. I booked Le Reminet. I'll report back and also try at least one other of those recommended.

My above comment about tourists was very tongue in cheek, how could I not enjoy being in the same restaurant as yourselves!

Au Revoir.

I second Chez Francis. great view wonderful decor and food. Alos let's not forget La Petite Chaise, St Germain which is open on Sunday and has the classic french food in a wonderful atmposphere and it's in your price range.

Do not go to Bofinger as it has been taken over by a chain and well nuff said.

Look at cocofromdijon's post today. Some of the suggested restaurants are offered at 50%. Good luck!

Hope you like Le Reminet as much as we do. We'll probably celebrate our 49th there in October. Try to get a seat downstaairs. It is much nicer there. The white haired gentleman is lovely to deal with .We have booked the downstairs for a party of 25 or so in October and he has been most helpful. That is in addition to our anniversary!

We went to Le Reminet. It was small, romantic and tucked away. There was a choice of a €55 per person menu or A La Carte. €190 for 3 starters 3 glasses of wine and 5 main courses.
The waiter in reply to my french spoke to us in english (flawlessly). The waiters were attentive and the one female looked as if there had been a death in her family within the last hour. The others were very pleasant.
We had an amuse of smoked duck which went down well. Next (chefs special of the day) Ravioli of veg and prawn in soup. Sounded so good 3 of us ordered it. Edible -just about. The homemade pasta was undercooked and on the inside had a texture of raw batter. The flavour was to no ones taste.
The main course of Skate couldn't be faulted except the potatoes in very thin slices were undercooked. The beef was excellent. The chicken was ok.
No one wanted dessert. A first ever in our family and not a good sign.
I was far too warm and went out side for some fresh air as there didn't appear to be air con and we were up beside the kitchen (open for you to look into).
Overall it seems an ok restaurant but we'll be trying all the many others recommended.

How about Cafe Constant on Rue St. Dominique (7th arr.)

Food id excellent and reasonably priced. Had no tourists (except for us, but we're not typical tourists), great food, quirky decor and great atmosphere.

They are open on Sundays.

I second for La Florimond for your Fri or Sat night dinners. You will likely find other "tourists" because the host is so engaging and welcoming - and speaks excellent English (though the chalkboard menu is in French. Our dinner was delicious and the small, charming atmosphere was delightful.
