Thanks to N & K... I did a bit of reading on St. Denis. And I always forget that you really can Google 'headless statue @ Notre Dame' and actually get the answer!

ladylyn - perfect! I love that other readers now have the correct information to find the 'shoe street'. It sounds like a very fun trip for you and your daughter and how much fun I could have had on that street if I PLANNED to shoe shop!

So much more to write! I've been home for 9 days and just can't catch up with life. I promise to try to write this weekend.

I've yet to tell of visiting the 'blinging' Eiffel at night, about not waiting in line for the down elevator from the mid-level. BTW, walking down the Eiffel is a bad idea...

I haven't mentioned our visit to the Louvre as it closed, so we never went inside, but enjoyed the square for a while. Watched a group of men playing bocce in the gardens and wished we could join.

We looked @ the Champs two nights in a row and could only see a busy, traffic filled piece of city, so we never even went! (did I really miss that much?? Wouldn't it be like Via Veneto in Rome? Or Park Ave? Though I suppose both are wonderful even if I don't have the dollars to spend there... something to go back for!)

I didn't mention how surprised I was by the CROWDS at Versailles and having to wait in line for over 30 mintues. And how I then snuck out of line and asked for an English tour (they were NOT listed on the website) and we were whisked out of line to a special desk as the tour was in 10 minutes.

About our great meal and shopping on Ile de Cite & St. Louis (Tavern Henri IV), enjoying the kids playing in the park behind Notre Dame...

Other great meals at Atmosphere (simple but wonderful) and Hotel Gard du Nord (snazzy presentation, great food, neat dining room)...

Wow, I really dropped the ball on this report - I'll have to revisit my journal and keep writing... I'm good at giving specific fodorite tips, but never good at writing up reports!

Yes, we are mortified and will have a hard time forgiving you.
