Paris Question?
Hey Everyone:
I am off to Paris next week and I had a quick question. I really wanted to get a feel of Paris at night. Maybe by doing the boat cruise. Could someone please let me know, what my options are. Also, do you recommend me to make reservations before I go, or should I buy it when I get there.
Thanks
K

Seine cruise a great way to get feel of Paris - many famous landmarks border the Seine - no reservations needed as boats leave constantly throughout the day and night - day or night that's the question - things like Notre Dame and other monuments gloriously floodlit at night. Another great orientation to Paris is to climb the Eiffel Tower to see the lay of the land - again day or night? The City of Light is surrealistic from 1,000 feet up at night but in day you see everything clearly. Perhaps go at dusk. Otherwise the hop on hop off doubledecker bus tours also a great way to orient yourself - comes with commentary - again leave constantly just buy ticket on bus.

The bateaux mouches (river boats) offer dinner cruises, too. Reservations required.
The view from the Eiffel Tower includes the ugly Montparnasse Tower. Depending on the time of day and other factors, you may have to queue for two hours to go up.
The Montparnasse Tower commands a view of the entire city - including the Eiffel Tower twinkling in the evening. And you don't have to look at the Montparnasse Tower.

I think €24 for a hop-on/hop-off bus tour is excessive when you can ride city buses all day for €5.30 (note: the RATP buses change to an evening schedule at 20h30). Get the tourist bus map and a Mobilis card and go nuts.
