scootoir,

That sounds like a cute place! We will have to put on list!

Mimi;

Will be taking pics of our Thanksgiving group..both from apartment greeting/meeting one another and then at Violon where we will be sharing whatever Thanksgiving feast has been put before us...French style!!

Will join Florent for breakfast this morning and get our evening set. They will pick me up here and we will go to Sprng together and I will come home by taxi..

I think it must be chilly out this morning....

a bientot...

It was good seeing you and lunching together. One little request...could you put some more description of the dishes in your nice photos?

Jim,

Do you really think I will remember, or will know what I have eaten...I did have sea bass at Violon. I have no idea what Madelyn and Philippe had!!

I did see Catherine yesterday and we talked about Toulouse. I think she thinks it is not necessary, but he has to do something!!

We also got some big laughs about my lunch reservation at Goy Savoy. She couldn't believe it and most curious to hear the after of it!

Going to have fun with Michael and Florent tonight at Spring. Another gal joining us, too. Florent will come hear and we will go across Seine and hop on the #72 bus.

You arrived home ok, I guess....

a bientot....

Joan,I am arriving Dec. 21. Leaving Jan 9, so have the usual difficulty of where to dine on Christmas...anything occur to you or have you noticed anyone advertising a Christmas opening? Staying in the 7th at Hotel Muguet. Would like to stay in the area since transport is always an issue on holidays. thanks for any suggestions....vicki

vicki,

If I were in Paris for Christmas I would make a reservation at Bar Vendome at the Ritz!! I have dined at Les Ambassadeurs for Christmas, but much prefer the atmosphere and coziness of the Bar Vendome!

You pretty much have to stick with the hotel dining..their guests have to eat..or some brasseries.

I did some checking and that is how I know about the Bar Vendome. Check ourt their website, and/or email them re a set menu/price etc. You will love the place. A real favorite of mine. It is a hotel, so you can drop in for a cup of tea or coffee, too!

I will check for you to see if Pasco's is serving as it is practically next door to your hotel. I doubt it, but will check..They are open 7 days a week, but not sure about Christmas.

a bientot...

Thank you Joan,I have always avoided hotel dining as subpar but may have to reconsider...Pasco is possible and Vauban, perhaps. I assume the Constants are all closed. I thought Fables might be open, but no. Thank you for the Vendome suggestion..vicki

Bonjour,

We had a wonderful evening! We were the first (I think) to arrive and about the last to leave after visiting with Daniel for some time. I was the only non French there with a critical group who were all very pleased! They did enjoy. Yes, the wine was a little pricey, even when they looked at the '2nd' wine list!

They actually thought it was not expensive for what was received. It was after midnight when they dropped me off.

We have added another for Thanksgiving at Violon and the same to l'Obe the end of the month. Michael may join me at Guy Savoy. That should be fun..Michael speaks about as much English as I speak French!! We will have to ask our server to join us to be our translator!!

Spring was super..agreed by all!

Photos...that was duckling and sooo much more...

Joan,

I looked up Spring on Google maps and got the street view and it shows a small street with one sign saying irish pub. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the English Tea and Scones restaurant.

RE google street scene maps. I don't think they have updated them since Spring was finished.

RE Bar Vendome for Christmas. I had checked out places that were open for people for the various type places. I have done the grand thing of Les Ambassadeurs etc. and for me, personally, I prefer the nice, cozy places with excellent service. Bar Vendome happens to be a favorite. So, when I found that they would be serving dinner there on Christmas, it would be my choice! Maybe not for everyone. Depending what you are looking for! The Ritz is extremely well decorated for the holidays. I have been in the past.

Bonsoir,

A bit of catch up...great sunny day for the first day of the r. Cler brocante.

I began meeting good friend at Cafe Constant for breakfast and
we wandered the brocante together. Had some other things to do to. I then went back and did some bocante shopping and picked up my porcelain knobs for gifts.

I had called an made a reservation for lunch at Thoumieux. I had not been there in years and it is completely diferent.

Photos for you:

To bad Paris does not have a restaurant week like we do here in Philadelphia, all the restaurants make special price menus that are no higher then $40 per person with 3 or 4 courses. Would try all the places I could not go to before..lol..ok that is a dream I know. But again thank you so much for posting the pictures, really can't wait to get to Paris.

Oh man am I missing Davoli and the cheese store! Must take a walk up to the new fabulous Italian deli up the street, which is the nearest equivalent at hand at the moment.

How did you like Thoumieux? I was there 2 years ago and was disappointed. Had been there previously and enjoyed it a lot.

St Cirq,

I was pleased with Thoumieux. I had a good table..not one of the rather crunched in ones. They are that way in so many places, though. Not really my cup of tea..but.....

It had been years since I was there. Totally different now..all mirrors......I have read some ups and downs with them, so it may be that way.

I will go back to the brocante tomorrow. I might even buy something at Davoli and feed my self..wouldn't that be different!

The Thanksgiving bunch are all beginning to arrive. Threesome from Birmingham area should have arrived today. They were going to email after arrival early afternoon. Have not heard from them Maybe they do not have easy email access.

Enjoy the photos and all the goodies...

a bientot....
