Paris: Nov 1 - Dec 4

I have had some emails about doing what we have done in the past with the running report and pictures. If you want it, we will do it. Only for those who are interested in this sort of thing! We have had some fun in the past. I have even made some reservations for some and/or previewed some places.

I am packed and down to all the last bit now. Have everything ready for cats to go on their vacation!

Looking to check in with you from time to time Joan. I always look forward to those wonderful 'foodie' pictures of what you have had to eat at the Constant's!
I'm sure the cat's enjoy their 'hotel' as much as you do your stay in Paris.....well I certainly hope so!
Have a very pleasant flight.

I am always happy to read your reports, gracejoan3. They are often a fascinating look into a Paris that I do not inhabit.

Keep the reports and pics coming; I enjoy living in Paris through your eyes! Have a great trip!

Salut Joan--Yes indeed and thanks for the reminder. Joan, I have used up all the cards which I had done from the painting "Joan's Paris breakfast" and hope there will be some other inspiration for me. I haven't set up to paint in least 6 months preparing for our move and then moving --so I look forward to some of your food scenes to inspire. Have a grand trip!

Bon voyage, bon séjour

Looking so forward to your posts. I am about to buy my tickets for our March trip. We are going for 2 weeks this time and our daughter is meeting us for 1 of those weeks. I will be reading your posts (they give me a little break while at work) and counting down the days until March. Have a safe flight!

Do you have any plans to see the Henry Moore exhibit at the Rodin museum? I'd be interested in opinions.
Have a great month and thanks.

StCirq Oct 24th, 2010 08:44 AM

Yup, I'll be looking forward to reading them, too.

cigalechanta Oct 24th, 2010 09:02 AM

Cathinjoetown,

I haven't been to the Rodin in several years..maybe a good time to go. I will certainly let you know!

Believe it or not, I have never taken the Opera tour..I think I am going to on most every trip..Let's see if I do it this time. I think I will get my friend to join me while she is there in early November..

Mimi..wish you could join me, too.....

I returned from Paris earlier this month and still think about it daily. I can't wait to read your reports, especially when you take pictures of those delicious meals!

AllReady2Go,

Did you do an English speaking tour? I remember seeing one previously on the website. I looked a bit ago and did not see it. MaybeI didn't look hard enough!

Thanks,

Joan

I took an English-speaking tour of the Opera on a Sunday in June and I believe the same tour was also offered on Wednesdays. One at noon, or thereabouts, and another at 2:30 or so. It was fabulous with lots of interesting stories and tidbits. It was one of my favorite outings and I'll go again when back in Paris. You'll enjoy it.

Joan.
Got back last week! Frederique was there to offer us the champagne. He did remember how I love champignons des bois so he arrived with two bowls of sauteed cepes - wonderful! Oh, yes, the old Monsieur is still there and he saluted us with his "verre". I noticed one of the servers waking him up for his coffee, though!
We also did a bouillon lunch with Daniel Rose - the place is beautiful and modern but I miss his old place with just him and Marie Aude cooking!!!
Our last meal was at Violon d'Ingres - truly a wonderful one! Can't beat Christian's meals!
Looking forward to your month and a half of Paris adventures - I still savour our time together in Paris!!!
bisous,
Lilia

Hi Lilia,

I just responded to your email a bit ago. So glad that Frederique remembered the birthday champagne. I do like l'Obe. I have reservations for the 7th and will be making more, too. I did make reservaions for Ritz Bar Vendome for Armistice Day (Nov.11) as I did last year, too. It is another favorite spot.

You know that I have 3 dinner reservations at Spring. Jim/Pat have emailed me about their evening, too. You know the group of us for Violon for Thanksgiving will be a fun thing. Who knows what surprises Christian will think up for our table's 'special menu'..will be fun, I am sure..and some new fun people to join us...along with Florent and Michael, too!!

The friends I had invited to stay with me just cancelled today. So, so sad. There adult son has 2 failing kidneys and 5 liver tumors. They want to do a double transplant about T/G. Their plate is full!!

I think of our fun time together often and do tell people how uncomplimentary you were in telling all that you spent half your time translating my French to French!!For some reason Florent thinks my French is improving..can't imagine why. I don't think you would be impressed! I'm not!

a bientot.......
Joan
