Hi Joan...yes, I took an English speaking tour of the Opera...I believe the one I took was on a Tuesday but check for sure. I did the reservation on line and I think there were several during the week. You'll really enjoy it. We had a fantastic young guide that loved the building and its history. Didn't get to go inside the hall as a performance was scheduled for that evening and they were setting up. We were able to hear part of the program from the foyer tho.

Joan,

Have a safe trip. I'm looking forward to reading all about your time in Paris, especially your dining experiences! :-)

framboise_et_rose Oct 26th, 2010 08:34 AM

Joan,

Next week, you will be in our beloved city! I'm sure "Florent a raison - ton francais est plus en plus comme une francaise". I also often think of our fun time together and was it only half of the time translating your french to french (LOL!!!)

Didn't get to see many people while in Paris. Our oldest one flew in from Stockholm and spent most of the first week with us and the second week just flew by. Managed to buy some chocolates the last day from PH, Jean-Charles Rochoux and Jacques Genin. The offspings and the granddaughters are having fun devouring them!

Sorry about your friends who had to cancel. It must be a trying time for them! I'll say a prayer for them.

Daniel was there in the beginning and left by dessert time. We did say hello to each other before the dining room started filling up. Marie Aude and I had a little visit at the end. Can't wait to hear about your 3 dinners coming up. Due to health reasons, I can't seem to tolerate dinners now so we are doing all our restaurant visits during a 2-1/2 to 3 hour lunches. It seems to work well for us!

Enjoy the rest of your planning - have a safe trip to Paris then the FUN BEGINS!!!!

bisous,
Lilia

I'm looking forward to your posts - I haven't been in Paris since November 2008 and I'm dreaming every night about my favorite places!

I've been waiting and waiting for your next trip to Paris and am very glad it's here. Yay!

I, too, am looking forward to your daily posts and lovely foodie pictures - they always get me started planning another Paris trip.

gracejoan3 Oct 26th, 2010 02:31 PM

With the serious health problems of my family member of guests who were joining me, I may have one of my dinner reservations at Spring available for someone. It is for 3 people and for November 26. Get in touch with me if interested.

I will be there for dinner next week and could make the name change etc.

I'm busy getting ready to leave.

a bientot..

Bonjour, Joan!

Thanks for your emails. I haven't been on here for a while, been too busy with my classes in Sptbg and A'ville plus planning my next trip. But I will make a point of checking in to learn about your next adventures - culinary and otherwise - and remember the good time we had in Paris last December.

Bon voyage!

I am packed and ready to go! Will be picked up about 1:30. I have a wait in ATL..always like to allow another shutttle flight in case something happens to one. I do not book the way ailrines try to book you. I will be in the Delta Sky Club while waiting, so not a problem. They also have free wi-fi available. Comfortable place.

a bientot...

Joan...

I do the same thing...always allow extra time in the event of unforeseen delays!

Safe travels!

Surely you have arrived? Hope you had an uneventful trip.

gracejoan3 Nov 1st, 2010 05:53 AM

Bonjour,

My flight was due in at 11:15 but arrived about 10:30! My driver was there waiting for me. I told him I wanted to go to the office first. He wanted to wait for me and take me on to the apartment. I told him I had some visiting to do. I did go on to my apartment with laptop and small duffle. They will deliver large one later.

Too late for lunch at Cafe or Cocottes, so will go for dinner.

Weather is great. I did not wear a coat out earlier. Juat a leather blazer over a t-neck sweater.

I went across the street tothe tabac to have them re-load my Navigo. I told him Novembre but he only loaded 1 week and did not know how to change it, so told me I would just have to come see him every week!

So now the fun begins!!

a bientot....

Cafe Constant - dinner 11/1

I went at 7:00 to be sure of table and to eat early and to bed early!! That was hours ago. I am back up as I needed to get some mail off to Sue who is off to Paris today and dinner together tomorrow night!!

If you are familiar with Cafe Constant, I sat downstairs at the little table beneath the stairs going up. Perfect spot to see all the comings/goings and the old bistro charm that this room has.

The plat was called duck pie with apple. Beneath the chip looking things wassome mashed potato with the duck pie ingredients and then the piece of duck and some tasty appple to go with it. The duck fell off the bone. Very good. I had selected another dessert item, but n/a so did the vanilla rice pudding..a Constant thing! I had a glass of the red wine featured for the month and a cafe creme and then called it an evening. Cost 30.30 euros for those interested.

Some photos for you:

Great weather. I wore a light coat.

I will have breakfast with Florent in the morning and catch up on some things with them...also previewing a hotel for a good friend.

a bientot..

Joan
