Welcome home.

OK..Home,

My driver picked me up right on time 6:25..It was froid!!

I had more than enough time at airport. After we boarded it looked like a blizzard ouside. They de-iced the plane and we were over an hour late leaving..I think he flew faster as he made up the time, but ATL had us in a lengthy holding pattern and there cannot be a more screwed up international procedure tham the one in ATL. I wondered if I would make my flight to Asheville. I did, and was glad to arrive home..I was pooped, as I only had 4 hrs. sleep from our super final night at Le Florimond and the previous night was about the same from a group party at Violon d'Ingres.

Picked up cats today at noon. Glad to see them..don't know how much they cared about seeing me as they were well fed and cared for on their vacation!!

Always lots to catch up on.

I have the final pics for you..only one from the Thursday night at Violon as you have seen others..except the dessert ordered by one person nearby..and she ate the whole thing, too!!

Le Florimond was well received by my Paris friends, Michael, Florent and Micheline..they are very critical, too! They did enjoy very much. Can't wait to go back with me in April!

Here are the photos:

Thanks for joininig me on another great Paris trip!!

What is that 1st photo---the tall white dessert? Looks gorgeous.

Wines from the Sancerre reigon are my favorites----was it wonderful?

denisea Dec 5th, 2010 11:24 AM

Oh Joan, no, no, no...no shameful anything. That looks decadent and flat out fab-u-lous!!! I live in Atlanta and am used to all the issues here with airport but it can be frustrating...glad you made your connection. (I love that I have a direct flight to Paris....now in 15 days)!

Joan,

I am going to miss your posts. We leave March 11 for 2 weeks and your posts have kept me dreaming of Paris while I should be working. Terrible I know. Thanks so much for taking the time to post your thoughts and pictures.

Joan and I are going to sit on a bench at Strasbourg-St Denis some day and share a kebab and frites with a can of Kronenbourg.

gracejoan3 Dec 5th, 2010 01:24 PM

I will find out what the "shameful dessert" is called.

Keerouac I thought you were joining me a Petite Sud Ouest for one of those great salades along with some wine..I think you might enjoy...Apil would be a good time. Nice, nice people.

Yes, Denise it would be a lot better if I ended it in ATL and did not have to take the shuttle to Asheville. That added trip/time could well be done without!!

I'm turning in early..cats are home and I will pick up all my mail in the morning from the P.O....mostly catalogs. I seem to be on everybody's list....

Hi Joan
I am glad you made it home safely! I loved your last pictures. After all those wonderful dinners in Paris, it will be hard to eat out in Ashville. I know how I feel about dining out around here. I guess we are spoiled!!!

Bonjour,
Glad you are safely home but am definitely going to miss my early morning antidote to these dark rainy days. Have spent a very enjoyable month reading about your Paris adventures and having fun along with you. Thank you for making the time and effort to share your trip with us. Look forward to the next installment.

dlejhunt Dec 6th, 2010 09:24 PM

That dessert platter at Le Florimond - Laurent does spoil you!

And the wine...LOL...it is one of my favorites. I took my sister to Le Florimond in March of 2009, and we shared a bottle of Domaine Auchere. For her birthday later in the year I sent her three bottles...it is available here and not that expensive (I think $24 a bottle).

Lucky me, I love Sancerre and I will be studying there next summer for two weeks. Maybe I will visit Domain Auchere, who knows?

Thanks for those lovely photos. I hope someday soon our paths will cross in Paris, Joan.

Well, Joan, you and those wonderful photos talked me into it. Waiting to hear from Thierry re: confirmation of an apartment for a week in April. As soon as the apartment is confirmed I'll book with airline and start the countdown. If you have time I'd love to meet you for lunch or supper.

So many restaurants, so little time.

Pat.

gracejoan3 Dec 7th, 2010 11:21 AM

Hi Pat,

I hope you get everything put together for April in Paris! Let me know the dates when you get it together. I will arrive on April 15.

We can certainly find some place to eat together!!

Hi Joan. Plans are all made. I get in on Wednesday 13th of April for 1 week. Not a long stay but better than the 3/4 days I've been there the last few times. Rented Studio Mazarine from parisbestlodge. This will be my first apartment rental in Paris and I'm so looking forward it.

If you want to chat offline, my email address is [email protected].

Thanks! Pat.
