Just plan hungry now. Very good job.

Hi Joan,
I enjoyed your cooking pics; though I agree - having someone else prepare my meals is so much more fun (for me) ..I do admire you for taking the class...I'd not be so diligent and probably skip on over to the Ritz and window shop - those windows looked very inviting along the hallway LOL! And then pop on into the bar for glass of bubbly! You did a lovely presentation though- and quite a nice looking class, MoneyB |
Joan,
Fantastic class! Can you be my chef? Your souffle was nice and high!!! Did you bone the caille - lovely stuffed with foie gras - oh, I'm so hungry......... bisous, Lilia |
Joan,
The cooking classes are making me so hungry, does he offer these frequently?I would love to attend. Elaine |
Joan,
What a wonderful class! It must have been so much fun. I would so love to take such a class. Maybe next time! Byrd |
Joan, I do like to cook so it would be great if you did indeed pass the recipes on!
Gina |
Gosh, Joan, how I have been enjoying your latest trip. In fact, I've decided to become you in the next life.
|
Hi,
Yes, the class was fun. No we did not have to do the boning. That had been done for us...good thing! I will try to post the recipes when I get home or you can send me an email and I can send to you. Byrd, maybe next visit you can do the class. They do have them regularly..usually on Mondays. a bientot... Joan |
laurela,
Too late, I've already claimed Joan's spot in my next life. Joan, I can't believe your trip is already winding up! There are many of us who don't want to see it end. So wonderful to look at all those pics. However, you need to know this totally reinforces my obsession with Paris and now I'm counting the days until I return. -Roberta |
Sorry to have missed you in Paris, would have been nice to have met you. But I will remember the places as I walk through the city.

My pics: http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...0_00022-18.jpg Sea Bass over mashed potatoes..great for this froid day! http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...00_0003-40.jpg a fruit crumble Christian came in as I was finishing. He checked to see what I had eaten! We chatted a bit. I had seen Catherine earlier in Cafe Constant where I went for breakfast. e visited about the cooking class etc. A cold day and it is to stay cold!! a bientot... Joan |
We have been watching the weather there as we get closer to our trip...brrrr! Miserable here in Atlanta too but that fruit crumble looked wonderful.
Thanks for mentioning L'Obe....we are now booked at the Hotel Crillion's brunch on the day after Christmas and are really looking forward to it...never would have thought of it without your post! It is such a beautiful hotel! |
Good for you with the Crillon Sunday brunch. A beautiful room and lovely spot.
Walk back to the l'Obe and ask for Frederique. Tell him you know me and look forward to dining there, too. You will like him and you will like l'Obe. A nice spot, especially on Sundays. They say that all their long time, nice customers come on Sunday! Check out the boutique, too. a bientot.. Joan |
Joan,
Really interested in info on your friend Florent's restaurant. I imagine it's somewhere in the 272+ comments in this thread but please don't make me search! Thanks. |
Flirt The is 3 ave Duquesne. Very near Ecole Militair metro.
It is a small place operated by Florent Dieux. Open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. He is not open on Sa/Sun. Stop by and say hello!! I returned from Guy Savoy awhile ago. The place had been re-modeled/re-decorated since there for dinner last. I will post pics later etc. There are a number of smaller rooms and the main room. I was in a room with 5 tables. When I arrived there were 2 tables occupied with American couples. Later 2 tables were occupied with French business men. Guy Savoy drooped in when only our 3 tables occupied. I chatted with him re having dined with him for dinner a few years previous and it was nice to be back. He returned later when the room was filled and I had completed most of my dining. I told him it was excellent. Shortly after someone returned with a bag with a gift for me. I was the only one who received one! Savoy has aged since there last...he would probably say the same for me if he had remembered me!! I took the 92 bus there and took a taxi home..it was snowing..still is..just light flakes..COLD!! I have pretty well come to the conclusion after having been to many of the 3 star restaurants that there is really only so much you can do as far as the food goes...only so much good service that you really want....the stars ONLY add the extra service. It can almost be too much..they bother you! It is nice to go once..see what it is like. I can go to Violon d'Ingres(always nearby) have food that is as good as you can get anyplace in Paris. If you think about it, so many of them learned from Christian!! The service is excellent, too..without someone grabbing everything all the time. Fine to try something like Spring..that IS different..and good value! Or, L'Obe on Sunday and Bar Vendome occasionally. Favorites of mine. Now, when I think back and after my lunch today, I think my 3 star experiences that I enjoyed most were Taillevent..even though no longer 3 star. I don't know if it the same now since m. Vrinat is not longer alive. A fine gentleman. a bientot... Joan |
Joan,
It is so unbelievable that your trip is coming to an end! What are we going to do when our everyday Paris news is no longer coming? You have to move to Paris and continue to please all your fans. We have given up on the 3 stars a long time ago. Used to enjoy it but as we get older, we can't eat like that anymore and since 2009, it became impossible - doctor's orders.... The good thing about it is, now it's cheaper for us. That sea bass looked so inviting - where those oysters on top? Continue enjoying but keep out of the cold!!! bisous, Lilia I look forward to getting those recipes from Violon classes. |
Your trip is coming to an end - no! Sad for you and for all of us who have been vacationing in Paris vicariously through you.
I love that you are eating at Le Florimond on your last evening in Paris. It has been our tradition to do exactly that for many years now. I will certainly be doing the same next summer! Je vous souhaite un bon voyage, Joan. Debra |
Thanks again Joan for the many pics and information and I will use what you have laid out before us all to enjoy this wonderful city called Paris.
|
It is froid, froid. Was snowing this morning early wwhen I went out.
Going to Violin d'Ingres for dinner with a group tonight. It will be nice, we know that. Debra, my Paris friends have not been to Le Florimond before and did want them to go with me before I left..righ down to the wire, I would say! I am off Saturday morning early. April 15 is not that far away though and we can begin again. Who will be in Paris mid April to mid MAy??? |
