Debra,

I do a lot of dining on my own, too. I never find it a problem in any way. I never give it a thought, either.
You won't have a problem.

Now that you have your lodging taken care of, you can just do all your planning. Have fun doing it.

Lilia,

I thought you might like the pics on r. Cler. I will be in Pomerol last...you will remember well arriving about 12 hrs. late and via Munich!!

vmratcliff,

I am sure that you will like Bar Vendome. Check out all the decorations, too. Thye do a super job. Walk down to Hemingway Bar to see all the displays.

I do have pics to post of yesterday at Cafe Constant..great meal, as always.

Must do some shopping for pre T/G dinner get to gether. Wine/Champagne/flowers etc. today.

a bientot...

acacia,

I just happened to remember that Au Petit Tonneau is open 7 days. You can't get better dining than for Ginny Boyer!!
Rue Surcouf...

I just called Le Florimond and am going for lunch today 1:00.

Always good...

Think I may be joining group at Violon for cooking class next Monday...me, the non cooker!!

a bientot....

Oh Joan, thank you, through your photos I was able to make a quick visit this morning to my two favorite places in the neighborhood, La Taverna and Le Florimond.

Now on to the university and the language conflict en Belgique...last day of classes before le festin de la dinde!

Bonne fête à vous!

Le Florimond - what a treat to see the pics!

I like to think I "discovered" that place. I was walking down the street many years ago and saw a sign announcing its opening the following day, walked in and made a reservation, and have been a devoted fan ever since, even though it's become such a tourist mecca. Do you know that his grandmother's stuffed cabbage recipe (one of my favorites on the menu) has foie gras in it? How decadent is that?

What? No millefeuille from Le Florimond? Has to be one of the tallest desserts I've ever had. Always enjoyed going there, staff is so nice and food is great.

St Cirq,

I meant to say hello to Laurant for you as I knew you had 'discovered it! Always a great spot and yes re the chou farci..too much to eat, though...and why no millefeuille Roberta!! It is the biggest one that I have ever seen, for sure. Almost embarrassing when it arrives! Madelyn said to say hello to you!

Debra..glad the pics I took were of two favorites. Both good places.

Everyone is going to laugh at this. It is well known that I do not cook. I have been asked to join a Violon d'Ingres cooking class on Monday!! I wonder if anyone will eat something that I might have helped with? I will take pictures!

a bientot...

Hi Joan...leaving soon for SF but wanted to wish you a Very Happy Thanksgiving. Can't wait to hear all about your French/American feast...I'm sure it'll be a wonderful meal shared with lovely friends. The cooking class sounds fun...what are going to prepare?

Joan,

Thanks for labeling more of the dishes; the coquilles St. Jacques at Thoumieux looked pretty good and didn't require any identification! You will enjoy the cooking class at Violon; Pat & I did that years ago with Madelyn and Carolyn with Christian as the chef and Catherine as the interpreter.

Joan,

Wow!! It will be such a treat to take part in the Violon cooking class. I do remember the pictures Jim took at the classes which he described as years ago. Have not been able to do it as my stays are too short but I do remember all those classes taken when I was young.......

Bon Jour de Merci Donnant!!!

bisous,
Lilia

I had no idea you weren't a cook, Joan, but do look forward to the pics of whatever you create. I took photos of the bastilla I cooked at La Maison Arabe in Marrakech a few years ago, and even though I do a lot of cooking, that was one sad photo

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...00_0007-19.jpg same salade

Did my wine shopping right around the corner on St. Dominique. 3 nice bottles of Champagne and a nice Bordeaux for Florent and Michael. Florent told me about a non-alcoholic drink for one uest who cannot drink alcohol..wanted something other than a soft drink. He told me of Champolay..a child's champagne, I guess. Sondra will be our critique tomorrow!!

I picked up some pretty flowers for the foyer and than founds some pretty plants that I put in a pot on the L/R coffee table.

Voila, I am all set for tomorrow!!

a bientot,

Joan
