I'll be in Paris Oct 11 - 16, any advice for which day and/or time of day might be the least crowded?

My advice would be to go online and book timed entry tickets. I have to believe that those are more or less proportioned evenly. If they aren't evenly distributed, I don't know how you would find that out.

Once you are in, you can stay as long as you want; there is a bit of ebb and flow so that you can eventually get close to any painting you wish.

The day I went they were advising walk- ups that the wait would be up to three hours, so I don't think you want try that.

Yes, we'll book on line. I had just wondered whether there might be a strategy to picking the day or time, but, as you say, they are probably allocated evenly. I would think opening times would likely be best as there wouldn't be a large accumulation of visitors from earlier hours.

I would definitely hurry and buy. I just bought tickets for Oct. 17th and I think many of the days prior to that were already sold out.

Well, it looks like I'm out of luck. There are no tickets available on any day at any time during the time we're in Paris. I guess we'll check to see if there are any tickets available at the door, though I hate to lose several hours standing in line. Oh well, we'll be in Paris! I'm sure we can find something to do with ourselves!

Thank you Michel for the info and the ticket link. I did purchase tickets and printed them off at home. The system would not accept a Visa card. After I clicked Visa and entered number it kept switching back to Blue Card and saying to correct. I then used a MasterCard and it worked great.

Michel, scrounge 'n go!!! I've just reread this thread and am holding myself back from throwing a few things in a small bag, quickly arranging for a cheap, decent hotel and taking a taxi to the airport. Oh my god, would love to see this exhibition and be in Paris again! (its been 3 years and feels like 3 decades)

Janice,

Try for the exhibit at the Marmottan as they have a companion exhibit opening on the 6th, might be better use of time than standing on line at the Grand Palais. Good luck and sorry.

Tried to book the tickets for the Monet exhibit last night for Oct. 29 on the internet.
I don't have a mobile phone so tried my land phone no. with the Master card. It won't work. The blue card keeps coming up. Tried the website-starting with dickietc. given and my credit card is warning me I have been charged 50.00+ dollars which is not correct.
I wanted a combination ticket for this exhibit plus the l' Orangerie. Any other suggestion other than waiting to get the tickets when we get in Paris the 28th.

Got my tickets to the Monet Palais Royale and also with the l'Orangerie combined with a Visa. My credit card-Masters card was compromised -identify theft. Thankful my credit card Co. warned me so that means new cards.
No problem the 2nd time with the Visa. Looking forward to our visits to both museums.

Sassy cat. You book one ticket , I did it online, and show your Eurostar train ticket when you enter the museum. It has to be within 5 days of your arrival date. On the way back to London, there is 2 for 1 entry to several places, same thing buy 1 ticket and show the train ticket
