Here's an excerpt from a trip report I'll be posting tomorrow morning: <BR> <BR>"We chose the Hotel Familia based on recommendations on this site. It was just what we were looking for. It’s a smaller independent hotel on a nice street just a couple blocks from the Seine and Notre Dame. We selected one of the more expensive rooms (FF630+FF30 breakfast) because it had a balcony on the 5th floor. The room was small with basic furnishings, a small modern bathroom with great shower pressure and hairdryer, TV, phone and even a minibar. The balcony was a delight – just enough room for a table and 2 chairs, thought the advertised view of Notre Dame is really just a glimpse. The windows are very well insulated from the street noise, but there is no A/C (we didn’t need it). The staff is great and was good enough to make our dinner reservations for us after we faxed a list. Eric the owner is very friendly and makes a point to personally meet all his guests. We were very happy with the Familia." <BR> <BR>If you're not used to Paris hotel rooms, you'll find them very small.

How's this for a rave - we're staying at the Familia for the 3rd time in September. Yes the rooms are small, but functional. The bathrooms are new and modern and the water pressure in the showers is great. Eric, his family, and the staff are a delight. Helpful, courteous, and willing to do anything. We had a problem with a taxi driver who suddenly forgot to how to speak English and tried to renege on the agreed upon price from CDG to the Familia. Eric spoke (reasoned?) with the driver for us and all ended well. Highly recommend it.

We stayed at the Familia in June in room 24. Our room didn't have a balcony and faced an interior courtyard, but it was a good size and very quiet. The bathroom was small but had great water pressure. We loved the Latin Quarter - there are a couple of art house theatres within a couple of blocks of the Familia. Be sure to go to L'Epoque restaurant on Cardinal Lemoine. We dined there our first night in Paris. The food was great and the people were very warm and friendly.
