Going to Paris May 28th - June 7th 2007.
I realize now after booking that the 28th is day after Pentecost - am I going to have any problems that week (Metro, museums, etc - I can handle crowds)? Also, can someone suggest I nice way of using a 6 day monument pass, which is what I plan on buying?

The only way I know to work the museum pass is to make a list of the museums I really think I will want to take time to visit. Then 'google' or use a guidebook for the websites to get the entry fees (the Paris city-owned museums are free anyway). Then figure out whether a 4-day or 6-day pass cost will be 'worth' covering those museums. Paris has many great museums but there is a lot more to see and do, so don't 'burn out' on them (especially during the warm season when the gardens will be beautiful).

I'm not sure of the impact of the post-Pentecost day - probably not that much, since it's your first day. Transportation will be normal, I would think. I don't have the impression that religious events have that much impact on Paris tourism, not as much, for instance, as Easter has on Rome.

The day after Pentecost is much less of an issue in recent years than in the past. For example, in 2002 the major department stores were closed; when I was there again on that day in 2005, they were open. I think it will not affect you to any extent. Some small shops may be closed.

My wife and I went to Paris during Easter week last year and that was not a problem. It seemed like it was business as usual. It's not a major holiday anywhere I know of, but there are some religious holidays that definitely have a big impact on Paris (ie, Christmas) and others that do not, like that one.

A 6 day museum/monuments pass is a very long one and I wouldn't think it necessary to buy one that long. It is true it gets cheaper the longer it is, but that's still 60 euro or an avg. of 10 euro a day. The city of Paris museums are all free anyway. If you planned on going to about two other ones a day every day for six days, I guess that could make sense.

I would look at my schedule like the earlier post suggested. I beleive the Louvre is free on the first Sunday of June (2nd) so you won't need to calculate that cost in if you go on that sunday.
