Best bet is to just ignore StCirq. She prowls message boards all over the web so she can declare others whose experience and/or opinions are contrary to her own names like "dunce" and "ingrate" and, usually, much worse. Where does a supposed wife and mother of two who "runs a business" find so much time to bother others?

Sounds like a great time--I'm afraid I'll miss the gathering by just a week! A friend and I will be arriving on March 31 and leaving April 7 (we lucked out on that great Icelandair two-for-one special). Will anyone be around the first week in April?

Good website: www.parisavenue.fr. Also in English with inputs, what to dos and latest hot spots. I like to stroll through. Sponsored by daily newspaper "Le Figaro" so also valid for non-tourists. I would compare it a little to "nytoday.com" by NY Times. Have a look through. It's worth it.

I want to meet for drinks with you guys, too! You sound like so much fun, plus we could all enjoy a little intellectual conversation, too! Will be in Paris for a very short stay, (Mar 18th - 20th) and am planning to dine at Au Pied de Cochon (they have VERY late hrs). Any takers for late-night dinner/drinks/dessert?

So what are you folks who are going to Paris in the next week or 2 going to pack? Is it cool? cold? Do we need winter coats? Hats and gloves? Raincoats? Just sweaters? I can't get a handle on the packing - how to be "properly" dressed for the weather, the activities and the culture!
I'm taking a jacket w/zip-out fleece vest, a pr of silk longjohns (top/pants), turtleneck for layering, long-sleeve shirt, wool socks, two prs shoes (in case one pr gets wet), and of course . . . black pants. I think (hope) I will be dressed for any kind of weather. If not, I can always buy something and have a wonderful souvenir.

Sandy

The coutdown is on! One more week until we leave for London/Paris! Can't wait to meet our Fodor Friends on the 21st...wish we could be there for the big group gathering on the 23rd, but sadly we'll be on our way home!

As far as packing - taking clothing items in noir, sweater sets (for layering), rain gear, gloves, and of course some comfortable shoes! I have everything in one carry-on bag.

I'll be looking for those blue ribbons in London and Paris.

~Michelle

p.s. - I'm even listening to a Paris radio station as I type this (M-FM).
Hello Americans,

Welcome to Paris. But please do not bring your guns and/or your "uncivilised" gun-todding adolescents with you.

Bye-bye

GA
Paris

I've emailed privately the people who are overlapping with us in Paris, but wanted to post here to catch anyone else who might have indicated an interest in getting together. Alas I think I'm going to have to take a "rain check". I am "shepherding" 6 other people, including 5 friends from Macedonia. It's their first trip to Paris, so my first responsibility is there. And because of the "balkan spirit" planning ahead is not an easy task I will be at Hotel La Motte Picquet So if you DO set a time and place feel free to leave me a message. I just can't promise to make it

I will be in Paris March 21-27th. It would be great to meet up on the 23rd. This is only my second time in Paris so I am not sure where this is you will be meeting. Can someone e-mail me directly with more specific information. I decided just a few days ago to make this trip and I'm having a hard time finding any rooms in a two star hotel....does anyone have any suggestions. I would appreciate any help.

Hello all Paris travelers-one restaurant recommendation I can make is for Le Petit Zinc in the St. Germain district. It was the only good meal I had the entire time I was there (yes, I'm picky). Reservations are hard to come by; maybe your hotel can help. One museum recommendation: the Musee Picasso-very interesting, educational and not nearly as tiring as the Louvre. One clothing recommendation: bring the gloves and scarf. My husband and I damn near froze to death last March until we bought some warmer clothes. Fashion before function only works when its above 40 degrees.

Kelly,

Glad you can make it! Cafe Francais is at 3 Place de la Bastille. There is a metro stop (Bastille) and I bet that CF will be very, very close. See you at 6:00 p. on Mar 23!

Sandy
