I would love any input/opinions on the following hotels
Angleterre
L'Universite
Verneuil (until they quoted me 174/night,website says 150)
My family and I are travelling to Paris Fall 2005 and I have been reading through these posts for ideas and generally checking out Trip Advisor. As we are a family of four, we need two rooms. Ideally left bank, smaller hotel with charm. We own a restaurant and get away once in a blue moon so this will be really special.

Rms 18 and 19 have adjoining doors. 18 is a dbl bed. 19 has twin beds. There are similar accomodations on other floors.

Why did I know ira was going to rec the Bonaparte?

Hi aubergine. I stayed at the Verneuil in February 2003 -- it is VERY charming, but the rooms are quite small so you are smart in trying to get two rooms. The location is great; and the hotel is constantly being tastefully redecorated (the owner seems to really enjoy this.) The staff and owner are very friendly -- they reconfirmed all of our restaurant recommendations (& gave us good directions) AND the owner sent up a delicious box of chocolates to our room with a kind note.

I don't know how long you are staying, but you might want to also consider renting an apartment if you are staying a week or more.

I read your other post where you mentioned your husband is a chef -- I am also a chef (currently on sabbatical until my two babies get a bit older.) I just wanted to tell you that we ate Helene Darroze a month after she received her 2nd star -- but it was very disappointing.

Also, one of our FAVORITE bistro's is La Regalade in the 14th arr. There was a recent article on Paris bistro's in the NY Times and La Regalade received another good review.

Because you were asking for "two rooms. Ideally left bank, smaller hotel with charm" for 150E or less.

The Angleterre is near the Arc.
The L'Universite looks good, but is more expensive.
The Verneuil is, apparently, too expensive.

I hope the Angleterre she's asking about is the one on Rue Jacob nr rue Bonaparte, not the one near the Arc!

yes, we are thinking of the Angleterre on rue Jacob. I see that Scarlett seems to love this hotel but has gotten mixed reviews on Trip Advisor.

L'Universite is offering me a rate of 140/night per room which seems quite reasonable. Anyone have experience with this hotel?
