Paris hotels: Ste-Beuve vs. Madison
We're still trying to decide between these 2 hotels for a late-September stay of several days. We've stayed at the Madison before and liked it quite a lot, but is it time for a change? The Ste-Beuve deluxe rooms sound very appealing, and it would be interesting to be in a different neighborhood.
Any comments from people who know one or both hotels?

Hi, Underhill.
Here's a link to a rather lengthy post I wrote about the Ste. Beuve following our recent stay:

As much as I liked it (I would stay there again, because I don't feel like I've explored that part of the 6eme enough), I suspect that the Madison's location would be better for a first-timer. It's just so lively around there. The street that the Sainte-Beuve is on can be rather sedate, although all you have to do is turn the corner to be at the Carrefour Vavin.
Wish I had my photos scanned--we took a lot of our room. Sometimes you can learn more from these "unofficial" room photos than you can from the official ones. If I get them scanned soon, I'll let you know.

Boy, something is really wrong--if I click on your link I get flown to another page that says Done, but there's nothing there. If I copy the link into Internet Explorer and click, again nothing comes up. This is very strange! But I'll keep trying.

You have to have the thread ID #. If you just have the forum ID# (fid=2) you just get the Europe forum (#2).
