My friend from France said if the hotel is in Paris, then it's near at least one Metro Station. Since he lives in his own place and there are hundreds of hotels, he couldn't give me specific replies on specific hotels.

I'm looking for info on the following hotels myself:

Batignolles Villiers
France Eiffel Hotel
Wallace Hotel
Best Western Courcelles-Etoile

How is the noise level at these hotels? Will I be able to sleep at night? How are the bathrooms/showers/toilets? How is breakfast? Can you buy Metro tickets at the hotel lobbies? Is food served 24hrs? Do you need to speak French to get around? Will I be charged extra for speaking English?

Hi
In terms of convenience, there are metro stations and there are metro stations.
Some are many stops or a longer ride away from the center or the nearest transfer point, which may mean more time spent underground on trains and less time.
Most frequent travelers to Paris recommend that a first-timer stay
in the 1-8 arrrondissements and
the 5th, 6th, and 7th on the left bank are the most popular and have the most choices for moderate and inexpensive hotels and restaurants.
I have not stayed at the hotels you both mention, but besides searching this forum you can look for comments at
www.paris.org and www.hotelboulevard.com
Both the Queen Mary and the St Gregoire are much-praised in the usually reliable book "Cheap Sleeps in Paris", at least in my edition of the book, I am not sure that the St Gregoire has an elevator, the book doesn't mention it.The St Mary is near both a metro stop and an RER station (Auber) which may be a consideration if you are taking the RER train from CDG.

I have a Paris file, if either of you would like to see it, email me.
airport.

The Saint Gregoire was recently upgraded to 4-stars, I believe, one of the few on the Left Bank, so it would have to have an elevator; in fact, I believe 3-star hotels have to, which is prob. why that book doesn't mention it, it is assumed. All of those are near metro stations; not sure if the Ste Beauve is the one I'm thinking of near Montparnasse Blvd and the Vavin metro? If so, that is very convenient to several transportation lines and a nice area. I don't think any of them are bad choices for location or value. As for Bob's request, I have never heard of those hotels, sorry.

I have not stayed, but I have heard and read good things about the Saint-Gregoire. It is one of the "Small Hotel Company" properties. Check out:

http://www.small-hotel.com/saint-gregoire/index.html

Have a good trip.
