WHich would you choose. I think both are in Montparnasse. Important factors are 1. Location to tourist sites for companion and "feel" of the real Paris (for me). 2. Value since we need to book two rooms. 3. Decor of lobby and rooms.<BR><BR>Second trip to Paris. Small rooms not a problem.

I forgot to mention. They are the same price.

Thanks, I just noticed that the hotels are next door to each other (how weird is that). That settles the location question. Now I'm just wondering about decor. I done a search and read all of the feedback on this board for both, but they both are usually mentioned in terms of family friendly. Not which one is the nicest. Also, Des Bains is one star, while Delambre is 3 stars. However, Fodors recommends Des Bains. I guess I'll soon just flip a coin.

Here is my 2-cents: If a 3*** and a 1*** have comparable price and location, go for the 3***. To help make that decision, there are over 200 comments about Delambre on digital.france.com (no www in front).

Thanks for the digital france info, I read the comments, and I think that has sealed it for me. I was hesitant to pay attntion to the stars. The last time I was in Paris we had to move from a 3 star which was terrible to the 2 star Timhotel which was average, but heaps better than the 3 star.

Going from a 1-star to a 2-star is a big difference, there are reasons for those ratings. It may be room size or not enough rooms with private facilities, or some other service, as I think often key facilities such as no elevator affect that rating but I read they had an elevator.<BR> <BR>They don't appear to take credit cards, though, that would be important to me and might have something to do with it.<BR><BR>The Delambre is repeatedly recommend as a budget hotel in all kinds of articles and guidebooks, so if they were the same price, I can't imagine paying that for a 1-star. well, typo above I meant going from a 1 to 3 star is a BIG difference, which it is. There was another cheap hotel that was a 1-star for a long time (Grand Hotel Leveque) when it seemed it should have been 2-star--it was finally upgraded, but I don't know what the reason was it wasn't sooner.

Stayed at Hotel Delambre this June it was nice, clean and quiet. Lobby was nice enough and staff was friendly. Worth the stay. A laundry facility is right next door too! Metro stop at the end of the block and a 20 minute walk to the tour Eiffel. It's worht it for sure! Good luck.
