"Julien-le-Pauvre also gives concerts. You can buy tickets right at the church during the day. "

yes, I did attend one at Julien -LePauvre - lol - they were not ready for prime time

but the St. Chappelle had
6 violinists, one cellist, and sometimes a piano and they sounded like a full symphony orchestra - I'm not one to spend $35 for one CD but it was so magnificent I bought the CD and have played it every day since.

Lots of the time you see the posters for the church concerts pasted all over the streets, not to worry, and I just went and paid at the door. I also went to one at La Madeleine (my namesake) but I guess it wasn't memorable, so I dont remember a thing of the music.

I would love to get tickets to the opera there !

Never heard of FNAC ! ?? Please tell me more. And a Gregorian chant sounds wonderful.

Woody and wife, yes company to Giverny would be wonderful. Monet is one of my very very favorites, and the gardens should be magnificent. I love the Luxembourg Gardens too. What a wonderful place and all the statues of the ancient queens. phenomenal.

Right now I'm having trouble finding a reasonable studio in Nice...they're taken for September. Any suggestions ?

Mahya2,

We are glad to have you join us to Giverny.

We will take the Rouen-bound train from Paris' Gare St. Lazare station to Vernon in the morning.

All this talk of classical concerts is all well and good. But it isn't getting anyone tattooed.

FNAC is a chain of electronics, DVD, CD, etc. stores. They also have a ticket kiosk for virtually anything that's on in Paris and for large venues outside Paris.

There's one where I mentioned and another in the underground mall at Les Halles--I think maybe on the Champs Elysees as well.

Their web site is in French but not that challenging. Concerts are listed under Spectacles--www.fnac.com Also a complete listing of stores. I've never ordered online; have just walked in.

If we ask, they might do tattos (Warner). Gadgetman wouldn't mind if I got one of a ham radio mike but let's try for something more "Parisienne".

We've been to the FNAC on the Champs Elysees for tickets. As I recall, they were for the Turner-Whistler-Monet exhibition.

Buying tickets at the ticket counter is like going to TicketMaster in the states.

Tattos are so out. Even Cher is having all of hers removed.

Removin tattoos is now so popular that there's a new company listed on the stock market doing good business. They make the laser that removes last decade's boyfriend's name

CathinJoeTown,

You are staying in the 6th ?
I have booked an apt there also . On the Rue du Rigard.
A small street supposedly where two prime ministers have lived. They didnt say from what countries though
Will you be near there ?

If you tell me you're on the rue du four or on a corner of the Luxembourg gardens I will begin to drool !

Is it decided what restaurant and what time we will all meet for lunch on the 26th September ?

Another gal from Scotland may be joining us, but I'll let you know for sure.

Is no one else from Florida, by way of Connecticut ?

I am a Californian but lived 5 years in Connecticut. Does that count?

I believe Gina said she would try for a reservation at Lèna et Mimile. Don't know if she was successful or not.

I hope Gina checks in again, but this is the place she has decided on:

" terrace at Chez Lena et Mimile in the 5th for Friday, September 26th at noon (hours are noon-2 for lunch).

Right now it looks like there will be 12 of us.

Gina "

How will we recognize each other ? shall we all wear a rose in our teeth or a flower in our hair ?

Hi all,

Yes, we're going to try for Lena et Mimile, and I will be calling them this week to make reservations for lunch. If there's a problem, I'll let you all know right away.

CW, their lunch hours are noon till 2:00, so you'll just have to drag yourself out of bed because we're expecting you to be there, and on your best behavior!

Mahya, be sure to let us know if your friend from Scotland will be able to join us.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you all!

mayha2,

Hi--sorry for not answering sooner--we are down in St Pe delbosc near St. Gaudens at the moment. Fantastic. I've rented a flat on the Rue St Andre des arts--close to the Blvd St. Michel end. DH will be back in UK spending time with the kids and a good girlfriend and I are sharing the flat. Guenmai stayed in the same one and gave it a good report. See you at the GTG!!

Gina,

she couldn't get a visa in time to make the trip so she wont be joining us.

I dont know what else is on the menu at Leon's of Bruxelles in the 5th arr, but I do remember that the back of the restaurant has tables straight across that could be made into one big dining table (just in case Lina's doesn't want us.)
