We didn't do the hop-on/hop-off tour mainly because we had specific sights that we wanted to spend a significant amount of time visiting, but it is a good option to see quite a bit of the city in a short time. We just grabbed a taxi after visiting a location and went to the next spot - very easy and fairly inexpensive - compaired to London anyway.

I visited Paris last summer. We actually ended up spending our second day at Euro Disney because we had done everything we wanted to do the first day there. we started out be going to Notre Dame. We had time for a wonderful lunch in a little cafe down the street, then crossed the river to walk in the shade (It was VERY HOT in August) and walked down the river toward the Louvre. We visited the museum, then walked stright from the Louvre towards the Arc de Triumphe. This took awhile because we had to stop a lot for water and to rest in the shade. It was a beautiful day, though, and we stopped to play with my new eiffel tower playing cards under the shade of a big tree for awhile. We ate diner at Planet Hollywood on Champs Elysées and then saw the Arc de Triumphe. We then walked toward the eiffel tower and got there right at sunset. It was magical. We stood in awe of seeing it for the first time, and right when we started to recover, the twinkle lights came on and we were breathless again. We sat under a tree and watched the tower and people around us for nearly two hours. We went home around 10pm that night. If you do not spend as much time dilly-dallying in the heat as we did in August (probably spent five or six hours just sitting around) then you could probably do Paris in one very full but very rewarding day.

If I had only one day in Paris, I would definitely take the L'Open Tour. It's hop on/hop off, and gets you to many of the most famous places in Paris, including Montmartre. Is it enough time in Paris? No, but enough time to see some of what Paris has to offer, walk along the Seine and in the Jardin du Luxembourg, and realize you'll want to come back I noticed one of the stops is Saint Germain des Prés. You might want to stop at the famous literary cafés, Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore when you're there. Also take time to wander the streets in the 6th. From the stop in front of Saint Germain des Prés, walk to Boulevard Saint Germain, and turn left. The rue de Buci and the rue de Seine are only a very short walk from Saint Germain des Prés. You might want to walk to Saint Sulpice, also a very short walk from Saint Germain des Prés. With Les Deux Magots on your right, cross Boulevard Saint Germain des Prés, and take the rue Bonaparte straight there. It's no more than a ten minute walk, and it's a lovely spot. From there, you can either walk to Jardin du Luxembourg, and pick up the tour bus there or go back to Saint Germain de Prés to pick it up.

Best,
Sandy

It's not a silly question Lots of places are closed on Easter Sunday, but you can still walk in the gardens and look at the monuments. You may want to check the individual websites of the museums to see if they're closed or open on Easter Sunday. For example, the Louvre is open on Easter Sunday from 9am to 6pm.

While some restaurants may be closed, I think you'll find no shortage of places to eat. We were there on Easter a couple of days ago, and we had no problem finding places to eat.

Best,
Sandy
