go to the Rodin Museum and the Musee d'Orsay; the Luxembourg Gardens are the prettiest I've ever seen in an urban setting, and if you cross the street, there are outdoor, public ping-pong tables which are a delight, and people use them! Bring your own ball & paddles.
Eat at:
L'Ostrea, a fabulous, low-key Mom&Pop seafood restaurant (6 rue Sauval, 1 arron)
Au Vieux Paris, great traditional French food, doting staff, always packed. (2 Place du Pantheon, 6 arron)
Le Petit Bourbon
exquisite food. not cheap. (15 Rue du Roule, 1 arron)
if you stay out of the obviously touristy corner bistros, you will always get a good meal. Also be sure to visit the great Paris flea market at Cligancourt -- some of the fringe restaurants, while not particlarly appealing visually, serve wonderful food that is a true bargain for Paris. Shop for cheese, bread, wine, and fresh foods at the market on rue de Seine. Have a wonderful time!!!!!

I agree with the places donna noted. I would add
a day trip to Giverny - Monet's gardens. The tourist office has a flyer. Take the train to Verson (a local). Local buses drop you off at the house. It gets crowded early. Take some fruit and something to eat and plan to get there about an hour before it opens. Well worth it - it is easy to see where the inspiration came from.
Other day trips - Versailles and Fontainbleau palaces.
Visit the traditional sites in the city and go up them - Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. For the cathedral you walk up one tower across the front and down the other tower. Great shots of the left bank and Montmatre - bring film.
Bon voyage. I am off to Ireland for the first time next week....
