Turkey in July

My wife and I are considering a trip to Turkey this July, but are concerned that it will be unbearably hot and crowded with other tourists. Has anyone been to Turkey during the summer months recently? Did you have trouble finding accommodations? Thank you for your response.

Turkey is a rather big country, most people do not
realise this,I suggest you sat your preferences first.Do you need a beach vacation?a city vacation?,sight seeing? what type of sight seeing?
Ancient Greek?,ancient Roman? ,ancient anything else? Islamic? Ottoman? Holy sights of Bible?are you a nature-wild life person? do you seek mountains? Quite fishing villages?Areas where western tourists populate?areas where mostly Turkish tourists dominate?are you interested in nightlife?Turkey is unbeliavably popular these days and in this country practically anything goes as far as tourist industry is concerned.Southern Turkey will be HOT in July, this is where most western tourists go but if you go to black sea area
where you will not run into many foreign tourits you will not get much facilities but the climate will be enjoyable, this area is dominated by green mountain scenery.Istanbul is ofcourse something else,it is a city to be inspected entirely on its own, just like any
big city, suitable to visit anytime.Have fun

We spent about 10 days in Turkey July 1996. Istanbul was very pleasant; there always seemed to be a nice breeze.
We visited several archeological sites down the Agean coast, and there it was quite hot.
We spent a couple of days inland and obviously quite hot there too. I grew up in Florida,
and still thought these areas were very hot. Nevertheless, it
was a great trip and I wouldn't change a thing.

My husband and I honeymooned in Turkey for 15 days last August. The weather was warm, yes, but not unbearable. Beautiful country! Started in Istanbul and then worked our way down the Aegean, Med, to Cappadoccia (not to be missed) and Ankara. The tourist situation isn't so bad. There are not too many Americans--but lots and lots of Spanaird and Italians! The food is incredible and cheap! The produce (tomatos, cukes, peaches and grapes in particular) are the best I have ever had. Please feel free to email me with more specific questions. I would not hesitate to go back another five or six times!

I, too, am spending all of July in Turkey. I spent August in Greece 2 years ago, and have heard that the weather is exactly the same. Although the temperature was about 105 degrees and sunny everyday, I never felt hot because there is always a breeze. It should be very pleasant, especially on the Med coast.
