Paris expertise needed

Off to Paris in two weeks & have several questions: 1/ Since we cannot get Michael Orman to reply to our e-mails, can anyone recommend an alternative guide? 2/ Is there a way to make dinner reservations at Lassere on-line? 3/ Any recommendations for a first-rate bistro near Musee D'Orsay? Thank you so much!

The Michelin guide doesn't give a web or e-mail address for Lasserre; best to fax. The number

It's a marvelous restaurant!

I recently read a review of a bistro near the Orsay but can't remember the name, although I think it might actually have been Bistro d'Orsay. Perhaps someone will know?

I happened to be at the Musee D'Orsay on my birthday few days ago and we ate at the nice litle cafe in the musee, with the big clock right in front of us. The food was not fancy, but it was good. I've also heard that there is another good (fancier) restaurant there.

the restaurant in the Musee d'Orsay is good enough for most any purpose.
If you don't know where it is, ask.
It is NOT the snack bar up on the highest level. The restaurant has an incredible ceiling and very good food.

Thanks for the info on Laserre and the restaurants at Musee D'Orsay.

Can anyone advise me on how to get Mr. Orman to respond to our three e-mails and/or give us the name of another well regarded guide? Thanks.

I second what Dixon said. I ate at the nicer restaurant in Musee Dorsay. The buffet was nice and the room was spectacular. It was written up in the Rick Steves book.

Since you keep misspelling Michael Osman's name here, I wonder if you aren't managing to get through to him on his e-mail. If his e-mail contains his surname, check it, because it's OSman, not ORman. Good luck.

How long have you been trying to reach Mr. Osman? He can be slow in responding, but he always does eventually. And he's worth the wait if he is available. BTW sometimes he is slow because he is waiting for confirmations from other clients and he would rather email you with a firm "yes" than a "I don't know yet".

Do a search for paris guide or paris guides to find an alternative if you wish.

To all - I have been trying to contact Michael by e-mail ([email protected]) and thus suspect that Mr/Ms Fowler has it right - that he is balancing multiple suitors vs. discriminating against those of us that make the occasional spelling error. Thanks for the advice.

Here's another strong endorsement of the restaurant in Musee d'Orsay. To assure not having to wait in line, try to get there as close to noon as possible, or perhaps a little before.

I just checked, and you can reserve for Lasserre online at http://www.reservethebest.com. You must have a fax machine, though, as they ask for the number, and we don't have a fax machine. My husband has one at work, but I just called to make all my reservations.
