Paris: Cyclos Presents New Transit Option

If not wanting to take the metro or buses or an expensive taxi there is a new option for getting around Paris cheaply - and no it's not the Velib free or nearly free bike scheme but

CYCLOS - electrically powered bikes that resembled covered golf carts that are like taxis where for the price of a metro ticket up to two passengers are ferried around Paris.

Developed by the French company Cyclopolitan, the service actually targets supermarket patrons.

In Lyon the Cyclos has been offering free trips home from supermarkets for patrons as a test.

Not sure how extensive their service is in Paris but watch out for this novel and also environmentally friendly mode of travel.

I saw on some website somewhere (somebody's blog probably) about a guy who operates a motorcycle taxi service. That would be interesting!

Wow - seems like a pretty cool option.

I heard about the problems that people have been getting with Velidon't know all the details), but is it really a scam that's going on?

No, it's not a scam, it's a city-wide initiative with commercial sponsorship. I used it almost exclusively over two weeks in August: 46 rides at a total cost of €15. At the risk of belabouring a point made in other threads, the trick is to think of it not as a cycle-hire scheme but as a self-powered taxi for one-off trips.

ah-hem, there is no advertising on the forum, therefore your other comments are suspect.
