Paris Christmas windows of Boulevard Haussmann

Nobody can accuse me of posting this late for the Christmas season this year. Actually, I saw a few stores (notably the Dutch chain Hema) which were in full Christmas mode already at the end of October. Anyway, I made my yearly pilgrimage to the department stores and put together some little videos and took a few other pictures to go with them.

Frankly, anybody who comes to Paris with the holiday season in mind should not miss the store windows. You don't even need to be a Christian to appreciate them since there is never any religious content.

Anyway, here is this year's report: Paris Christmas windows 2018 | Any Port in a Storm

I could see a little bit of the lights when they were doing live coverage on CNN. I look forward to seeing them and paying respect at Suresnes American Cemetery. Apologies to France. So embarrassed by today's actions. There is always a backup plan. Thanks for the preview.

Although not in the class of Kerouac's fantastic Bollywood movies (when are you doing another?), here's a video I did of Christmas week in Paris (geez, already 12 years). For Christmas decorations, skip the first two songs. Keroouac, I still owe you some wine for missing the last time in town. I guarantee we'll be there sometime in the next couple if years, We never go too long.

Thanks for sharing that, Kerouac! We will be in Paris for Thanksgiving next year. I'm glad to see the Christmas windows are unveiled early. Should be magical...!!!!

This definitely makes me want to come back at Christmas. Awesome photos. I'll buy the first (and second) round. Christmas week in Paris was one of my favorites. Thanks.

I was lucky enough to work in the British Embassy in Paris for four years.

I lived out in the Western Suburbs, and every day took the RER Line A train into work.

I used to get off the train at Auber, and loved taking the BIvd Haussmann route to work. Failing that it wasn't a bad walk down the Champs Elysees if I decided to alight at CDG Etoile station.

If the French do one thing well it's dressing-up their shop windows.

A pretty good way to spend 4 years.....the next 4 years in Riyadh was my reward!

Both of the Eid holidays and celebrations are very interesting affairs in Saudi Arabia. Eid el-Fitr immediately after Ramadan is very colourful, as tbh is Ramadan itself. Eid el-Adhr is pretty sombre, especially if you're a goat or a sheep!

Kerouac, thank you so much for sharing. We live in the land of malls. Therefore none of the stores have big windows or decorate them to this level. I still remember the windows of the free standing department stores here in Detroit when I was a kid(60's). Now I have to go to Chicago or New York to see the beautiful windows.

It wouldn't be Christmas without K's annual report.
