Second on the silk undies - I swear by mine for winter travel. They can get pricey but you can pick up some decent enough ones at Lands End for not too much.
Also agree with the scarf, gloves and hat. I like Isotoner type gloves, and prefer scarfs that have enough length (and not too much bulk) to wrap around my neck and tuck into the coat. As for hats, I have given up fashion and go with a solid color knit ski cap. I also have used ear muffs, the type on a fabric covered tension band when it's really cold - they make a big difference.

Pantheon.

And the Nef of the Grand Palais usually has a Christmas fair with light shows and a ferris wheel (<i>inside</i-- I went at night but wish I had gone back in the daytime to ride the wheel because it must be a great view of that glass ceiling.

Yes, Stu, silk undies for guys, too! All skiers wear them! You can buy more scarves here..all over. The long ones you put center at neck front and wrap each end around the back and loop over in the front..you will see how it is done!

Do your warmy shopping!

It goes up every year for two months.

The big debate was when it stayed up for 2 years after the millennium celebrations.

Stu, The village/commercial center of Bercy also decorates for the holidays, and is worth a visit anyway, if you haven't been there.

My husband and I are also believers in silk long-johns. They're lightweight but they really make a difference.

I really bundle up for Paris in the winter, because it's so much more fun if you can spend a lot of time outdoors. I wear layers, a hat, scarf, and definitely gloves. If you don't need them you can always take them off.

Have a great trip!

The biggest Christmas market is now the Champs Elysées Christmas market, which opened last weekend. And I have to admit that it looks quite nice.

It extends from Place de la Concorde to Rond Point des Champs Elysées, on both sides of the avenue.

Stu,

Could you please send me your Dordogne itinerary? I am taking my 16-year-old daughter to France next summer. She chose Paris and I chose Dordogne. We have two weeks to get a taste of each.

Enjoy the rest of your trip!
