I'll have a couple of hours to change flights at CDG but have to navigate from Terminal 2A to 2F and change airlines. I've never done this at CDG. Have been told it involves waiting for a bus. Because AirFrance won't issue seat assignments in advance, I'm wondering whether, to save time, I'll be able to stop somewhere in 2A and pick my seat BEFORE starting my trek to 2F. <BR> <BR>I also don't know whether I have to go thru customs & immigration both at CDG and at my eventual destination in Italy. <BR> <BR>Any tips or info from CDG veterans? My husband and I had to make aterminal change at CDG in May. We discovered that if we took the bus (it runs every few minutes) we did not have to go through customs. If we walked through the terminals, we would have to go through customs-so we opted for the bus. <BR>Sorry, I don't know about selecting a seat. Have a wonderful trip.

Hall F is newest of the termainal buildings at CDG, Terminal 2 complex. <BR>It is a fairly long haul from F to A, perhaps the longest one you can make between the halls of T2. <BR>I have a diagram of T2 that is fairly detailed that I can send you as an attachement to email. I cannot find it on the web anymore. <BR>Hall A is next to Hall C and there is a passageway from one to the other on the same level. From C to F is a longer walk because Hall F is on the other side of the RER/TGV station. <BR>Fortunately, you have 2 hours if your arriving flight is on time. <BR>I think you can make the change, but it is not a piece of cake. <BR>I do not know if you can get a seat assignment on the way over. I do know that Hall C of T2 is almost all Air France. <BR>Let me know if you want the map via email.

I do that a lot, always seem to need to get from 2 something to 2F which is kind of out to the side. I would not stop to get a seat assignment in 2A, I don't understand why you think it would save time to do that in 2A rather than in 2F? YOu'll have to do it somewhere, so you might as well do it where you are supposed to leave. There are often very long lines with people asking questions at the transfer desk of Air France, I think it would be better at destination. As others have said, you won't have to go through customs as long as your bags are checked through and you follow the correct lines for transfers.

Thanks for the comments. <BR> <BR> Actually it's not that I thought I might save time by stopping somewhere in 2A to get a seat assignment; I have a dread of huffing up to the 2F gate at the last minute and being assigned a leftover middle seat. I'm a bit claustrophobic, and that would be most unpleasant. <BR> <BR>I'm just chafing because Air France will not issue an advance seat assignment to any passenger flying coach--and so was eager to have some choice of seat selection, the sooner the better. <BR>

Logan, <BR>Theoretically you can stop at the first Air France desk you see and get the seat assignment==but there will be long lines everywhere. You probably should get to 2F first and hope for the best. I think you may have to wait for the shuttle to keep from going thru security again--even tho it might be quicker to walk. Frustrating o' CDG, as ever. <BR>
