I was slightly underwhelmed by Ribe and Odense, but there are some popular beaches to the west of Ribe.

But if you can't say something good, don't say anything at all. So here's something good: Dansk Kroferie - - a collection of 87 hotels and inns across Denmark which are very user-friendly and good values. They have a very good brochure which you can get from the Danish tourist board (I think that's where I got it). Their website - - http://www.dansk-kroferie.dk - - is currently under "reconstruction". Hopefully, that won't last long.

Best wishes,

Rex

Copenhagen's island, Zealand, has about everything you could want on a first trip to Denmark. The north shore has good beaches at Gilleleje & Hornbaek, plus Bellevue near Klampenborg just north of Copenhagen. The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is at Humlebaek, and there are many in Copenhagen. Copenhagen also has about the longest pedestrian shopping street in Europe - the Stroget.

Lilac,
When are you planning to go to denmark? Are you going by yourself or with family? My husband and two children went to denmark, sweden and finland this summer and had a wonderful time. In denamrk we stayed in Vejile and travelled by bus to legoland which was fun for the kids. We then went to Aero, an island about 3 0r 4 hrs away by train and a ferry and that was incredibly beautiful and relaxing. There are thatched hut houses, cobblestone roads, old churches, delicious baked goods, scenic bike riding and the best ice cream! We then spent about 5 days in Copenhagen and had a great time. Something there for everyone. Good shopping, good food and lots of museums. There are also some easy and interesting side trips to places like Roskilde (Vikings) and Fredicksborg Castle; both are easy and fast train rides. Public transportation is easy and quick. We stayed at the Hotel Kong arthur in Copenhagen which was about a 15 minute walk from town and included a very good breakfast. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Good luck and have fun.
