Paris Budgeting Question
I'm leaving for Paris in 2 weeks and am trying to figure out how much money to bring. Can someone please give me an idea how much I can expect to pay for breakfast, lunch and dinner while in Paris? Just an approximate range, ... no where very fancy. Thanks for the input. Nina

Breakfast may be included in the cost of your room, or added on for $4-12 - - your choice. And coffee and bakery heaven might be in a similar range (actually it would be hard to sopend that much on "do-it-yourself breakfast" outside a hotel.

For lunch and supper, you can eat fine on $25, fine for $45 and splendidly for $75. But Paris is more or less unique in the ability to unload $200 or more from your wallet for dinner alone, if you so choose. It is actually quite difficult to get a table in such restaurants.

Best wishes,

Rex

Rex is on target. We spend $22 to $25 each for dinner plus wine at $12 to $15.
You will always find some nice (not fancy) places to eat in the area around your hotel. We only ate a nice lunch once. Most of the time we would eat from street vendors. Plus there are crape stands everywhere.

Nina: Stay away from touristic places for meals and buy your soft drinks in small grocery stores. Don't sit down in cafés on the Champs-Elysées, it will cost you a fortune. If you are doing well, you can manage to live quite well with not too much money. Go for restaurants in small streets. Have a nice sandwich for lunch and spend some more for dinner (150-250 FF).

I am not yet a Paris veteran, but I think we did ok price wise on the last two visits.
For breakfast, we found a bakery across the stree from our hotel. It had these big round buns full of raisins that were delicious. I would eat one to escape hunger, and then I would eat a second one because the first one was so good.

La Brioche Doree is a good place for a sandwich lunch. Last summer I found a good tuna sandwhich there for 3.15 Euros.
And the pastries are good, too.
For dinner, we ate several times at a place called Le Bistro de la Gare on Boulevard Montparnasse, near the intersection with Rue de Rennes.
The prices there were such that we could spend less than $50 for two people at dinner.
Prices must be posted outside, so check the list very carefully before you go in to make sure that you are not exceeding your limit.
