I meant to say that I am asking regarding location primarily.

Not kwowing anything about you I can only go by my own preferences. No Loft beds or sofa beds. I like having a washing machine and a place to sit other than the bed. So I would go for the 1rst or the 4th.

Paris is a small city and has wonderful transportation. So for me these are all good locations.

All locations are acceptable.

The one with the best location (on Ile St. Louis) is the one I like the least. Pros - location, no steps. Cons - small, sofa bed, no washer/dryer.

http://www.vrbo.com/336070 has good location and actual bed but no sofa and still very small.

The rentparis one is a better apt but you'll use the Metro more as opposed to walking. Though you'll use the Metro some no matter which apt. you choose.

http://www.vrbo.com/338539 is good location but you climb a ladder to loft bed. No way! Looks like low ceilings too.

http://www.vrbo.com/239835 good location but only place to sit is on the bed (or the square stool in the "internet corner". Not acceptable to me.

Honestly, http://www.vrbo.com/253799 is the only one I would consider. Naturally, it is the higher priced one, bit each of the others seem to have some fatal flaw (though all locations are good). Excellent location near Latour Maubourg is a few minutes walk to St. Germain neighborhood in one direction and a few blocks to Rue Cler in the other direction. It is easily the top choice - worth the extra Euro.

When are you planning to rent? I really like having AC available in the summer. You may not need it but when you do, it really makes a difference.
The first apartment had everything we like....separate bedroom (sometimes I get up early and like to know I'm not disturbing my husband if I make coffee, etc),comfortable looking furniture, adequate lighting and AC but I didn't see what floor it is on or if there's an elevator.

Great, then AC is not an issue. As far as location goes, we prefer the 5th, 6th, 1st and Marais but, you can really get anywhere conveniently by metro or bus.
I tend to look more at the apartment as we have rented a few that we just weren't excited to go home to. We just have certain amenities that make the difference for us...separate bedroom, washer and dryer, no more than 4 flights up with no elevator, a comfy place to sit, AC in the summer and adequate lighting. We tend to book really early to get apartments that work for us! Although I do think I'd still love Paris if I were staying in a cardboard box.

Hey Debi!!!

Is this your first trip to Paris?

I like the 7th as a location, but how did you choose this ? This one in the 7th is 1200 euro/week in May. There should be loads of great places in that price range

the Rue Mouffe one is 790 euro/week. A big price diff.

I agree with Judy as to min requirements: separate bedroom; nice kitchen; washer/dryer.

I'd say-keep looking!!! Have you checked Vacation in Paris? Mots people are ahppy with their flats and service.

Hey Cali!
I was in Paris a long time ago, for a few days. Doesn't count.

The one in the 7th offered me a better price, I am still asking for a bit more of a reduction. Nothing ventured...

I'll take a look at VinP, thanks.

The bed looks saggy that would be a no go for me.

Why is there no photo of the bed? It's the most important feature, I'd want to see the sofa bed pulled out.

I had this site in my Paris file, must have found it on Fodors. They aren't afraid to take a good photo of the bed. The apts are a little quirky and may not be for everyone.

http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p344261

above is available for first week of May. The price is more like the first one you listed (and maybe it too is negotiable) I love this area of the 6th--lots of action. Not as quiet, in general, as the 7th.

I found it on Homeaway, a site where you can narrow the search by price, # of people, etc.

Debi, here's another idea. The Hotel Relai Bosquet, in the 7th rr , also has a few apts that it manages. The hotel gets great reviews and I'd imagine the apts are ok too. And the price includes a midweek cleaning,if that matters (I'd think that was icing on the cake!)

Here's the site for their one-bedroom, which has its own little terrace, and is def in the lower enod of your price range (973 euros for a week, a little more per when prorated per night--look the "special" rates, not the "public" rates:

I agree that all locations are fine; you will thereafter have your own priorities.

I'm pretty keen on a separate bedroom if there's more than 1 of me (my husband usually takes a siesta, and I want somewhere to sit and read/ drink whilst he does).

Price is next. Set a budget and stick to it- or , at least, know why you're blowing it.

Location is third. Most parts of Paris are fine if you're within spitting distance of a metro station and a local commercial hub.

I agree with the others, the first one would be my only choice out of the ones you have listed. I need space and squishing up in a studio - even for me by myself is not on!!

I have rented apartments in the 18th for three years in a row with www.perfectlyparis.com and I find them great to deal with. I love the 18th it is the "real" Paris for me and it is only a hop skip and a jump on the metro to get to the other side of the river!! Have a look on their site.

I rented Caulaincourt Charm last year and loved it, this year I am trying Sweet Lepic for three nights and then Rooftop Vista for 9 nights later in my trip. I also rented Elegant St. George (or something like that, but that is available only for a month)

How is this area in the 4em?
rue de la Verrerie near rue du Renard and rue du du Temple

It is newly renovated, so no reviews [which makes me nervous] but the price is an amazing 590 for a week! I got an email from owner saying price is so low, because it is new to VRBO.

I will check out above suggestions, thanks guys - it is so nice to have help of friends

@LSky - I did contact Theirry at Paris Best, only has 2 units avail for my dates, I didn't care for either. Thanks though.

@Cali - the apartment doesn't have the 7 day rate, only 229/night and for 8 nights, that puts it out of our price range. It is lovely, thanks for finding it.

Hi DebitNM,

I love the last vrbo/339804, it looks quite spacious for Paris. I can offer two other suggestions,

http://www.vacationinparis.com/apts/id_201.htm

I stayed there in 2010, loved the location, it was on a major busline right outside and very near St. Paul metro. It is a nice one bedroom and quiet. I have tried to book it again but I think it books up fast. This is my favorite apartment of the 8 or so apartments I've rented in Paris.

I was in Paris solo this past December and rented this one thru VRBO
http://www.vrbo.com/305075

very near Place des Vosges, a nice apartment but other than the bedroom there is no other area to sit in. The price was right and it was nice, would probably stay there again but only if I were traveling alone. My only issue was the elevator was out (think it had to do with the inspection) and tho I inquired as to having an elevator I was not told it wasn't wasn't available for use since September 2010 while waiting for the inspection. It was only on the 3rd floor but I didn't relish going up and down 3 flights of stairs all the time. That said it was clean, noted that it had portable AC (great to know for summer) and was situated on a courtyard so it was relatively quiet.

Hope you don't mind my passing these two along, just a few more to muddy up the waters.

Susan, that first one is beautiful but a bit too expensive. The second is also really nice, but not available. Thanks much!

Do you know the area of 339804? Is it a good location?
