Just a quick general question - how does everyone really go about finding these apartments? Is it just word of mouth, a simple "apartments in Paris" Google search, or some other mode?

asnape: Rick Steves mentioned several apartment websites (Paris 2010 book). I thought that parisperfect.com was one of the better options and just booked our apartment for our June vacation. I almost didn't get it - the "Pouilly" apartment was the the only available apartment in the studio, and 1 and 2 bedroom categories.

Quick question here: Has anyone stayed at the Pouilly? Would love to hear about your experience.
Thank you!

gelatolover,

I stay in the Paris Perfect apartments regularly. I have stayed in many, many of them, but not the Pouilly.

It is a newer one on their list, finished only last year. I am sure that you will like it and most especially, the Paris Perfect experience.

Yes, Paris Perfect is a very upscale company with lovely apartments, local office, welcome center and will take care of every need that you might have.

Enjoy your trip and your stay...

Joan

I used recommendations from this website, Slowtrav and then searched and searched the web on my own. It can be time consuming to find what you want.

I'm bookmarking this thread since I'm in the middle of searching for an apartment for 5 -- including three kids, for this October

So many choices, it's a bit overwhelming!

Greetings. I am a newcomer to the forum. I am on the brink of booking an seemingly desirable apartment in Paris for late SEP early OCT. I have scanned the blog and taken note of the various agencies referred to, but I am concerned that the agency I must deal with has not been mentioned. So, please has anyone there dealt with usaparis.com, and, if so, have you any cautions or recommendations for me? I should really like to finalise before week's end, as places have been filling while I have procrastinated.

sydney, I looked at the usaparis.com website and this it looks very professional in some ways (the layout, the contracts, and they take CCs). Some info seems to be omitted, but I may have missed it and it probably varies by property (like the floor the apt was on seemed missing on the one I scanned, things people want to know). The rates seem typical for what is offered.

It is not really an "agency", the website says they area an "association of owners". That may be splitting hairs, but I think the issue is that it's a group of owners who got together to share expenses of a website and perhaps some management issues and maybe the ability to take credit cards. However, just be aware that you are really renting from the private owner of whichever place you choose. I've seen several of these kinds of groups around, it makes sense if you can find a few other owners so you can share some expenses and a website. The one I scanned was on VRBO, anyway, though. I like that they are registered with the BBB in Florida.

Paris is not all expensive hotels or apartments. This year I visited Paris, and we rent with www.apartmentparis.fr .Absolutely perfect! It was just as it described...except bigger. We were 5 adults and we never felt cramped for space. We weren't sure if our American wireless would work with the one in Paris...but it worked fine. The subway was minutes away and we were close to everything so absolutely no need for a vehicle. In fact, I don't recommend it. The street is tiny and Paris driving is a sport that only few have mastered! The apartment was very clean and had pretty much everything you could need. The owner is really nice...we accidently locked ourselves out of the apartment...didn't realize it until midnight and he was still up and provided us with a key ! Take it from me, a highly critical person, you will not be disappointed with this place. we rent this specific apartment, rue des blancs Manteaux, in LE MARAIS : http://www.myapartmentparis.com/aparteng-59.html . Bon voyage !

Is it cynical of me to wonder why steeve1972's only two posts (besides his correction) were identically worded promos for a certain rental company?

mrgambino,

Apartment looks OK, but seems a bit hit expensive for only 24 square meters. That's less than 260 square feet, and I can't see a bed in any of the pictures. Perhaps you like sleeping on a sofa bed. The other thing is it does not say what floor the apartment is on, or if there is an elevator.

Jade,

The site you supplied is for a hotel, not an apartment. Besides, it is so far out in the 11th I would hardly consider it in Paris at all. Bum advice for mrgabino, IMO.

The parisianhome website has logos showing 2nd floor (what we'd call third here) and that there is no elevator.

I think you're right about the sofabed, nukesafe.
