Paris Apartment - Thoughts?
Just curious what everyone thinks about homeaway.com in general and, more specifically, what you think of this particular property:
http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p312002
If you don't have knowledge of this particular property, thoughts on the location and the owner would be welcome.
I will be traveling in early December and am looking to stay in an area that has markets so I can cook some meals, great restaurants and metro access.
Thanks for any help you might be able to offer!

The apartment looks very bright, and I think that would be a real plus in the short days of December. I see it has a lot of glass, so I would want a guarantee about heat, and for myself would offer to pay extra if need be in the event of a real cold snap.
I think the kitchen looks beautiful and the location for me would be great.. I'm not a market-person, but I'm aware that there is a Sunday organic market at rue Monge and the other great food shopping street of rue Mouffetard, and both are walkable in nice weather, Great subway connections right at hand.
I think it's a terrific location, and there are good restaurants you can reach on foot, too.

mwilson,
This apartment was reviewed on TA on a thread that later was revived, got a bit ugly, then became civilized again. It also includes a message from the owner who renovated it after the original, less than enthusiastic review was written.

Homeaway is not an agency but a listing service for apartment owners and managers--just like VRBO and some other agencies. I think this apartment is listed on more than one site.
It is centrally located and convenient to what you're looking for.

well, the location of course is very central, although it wouldn't be to my taste (but I know it would to most first-time tourists). It's just too touristy for my taste in that location which is just a block from St Michel square, I believe, and I think there is a noisy club on that street but I could be wrong.
It's not particularly near rue Mouffetard and the Monge market, though, at least not in my opinion, I wouldn't go all the way there to stop. There are lots closer places to buy groceries, including rue de Buci as well as regular supermarkets. The organic market at Raspail is about the same distance as Monge and you could get there directly on the metro without transferring like you'd have to do to get to Monge. Of course, you could walk to either if you wanted.
To be honest, I don't like the place at all, but that's up to you. It just looks like a cheaply furnished cold basement or something.

Christina,
Are there other properties you'd recommend in Paris? It isn't my first visit there, but it is the first time I would be renting an apartment.
Zeppole and CW,
Thanks for the other comments as well - especially for that thread on Trip Advisor (it most certainly gets ugly, though!).
