Paris Apartment at Christmas - please help!

I'm looking for a Paris apartment for our family for December 17th - 23rd. (We move on to Rome for 8 nights on the 23rd!) We are: DH, DS 14 yo, DD 23yo and me. We'd love a 2 bdrm bright apartment with a good kitchen in a fun neighborhood.

I've read the boards and it seems that the Marais neighborhood may suit our needs. I found this apartment: www.vrbo.com/19130 and am hoping for feedback. The price is 1200 eu for 6 nights. We're fine with the stairs (can eat more pastries) but are hoping for an area w/ cafes, bakeries, groceries. One of us hopes for discos nearby but she's all alone with wanting that. This was also available: www.vrbo.com/76415 next to Notre Dame.

What do you think?

I think they are both in great locations. The Marais apartment looks a little nicer and a little more spacious. I think you would be happy in that neighborhood. After looking at your choices, I think I'm a little jealous! Have fun.

It looks like either you have already booked #19130 or someone else has taken it for your exact dates, according to the calendar on the listing. Either way it is now a moot point.

It look very very nice, especially the kitchen. If you did book it, you will love the area. Both of the areas that you asked about are great and have all of the things that you are looking for very close by ... I don't know about disco, because my discs goed along time ago.

The second apartment by Notre Dame is also a wonderful location. I think it is a matter of personal preference. I lean toward the Marais apartment simply because it looks great and the owner seems to have covered everything in his description.

Let us know what you decide - and don't forget to write a trip report.

Thanks Nina - I read about your apartment experience. The hold on the apartment is indeed for me, I sent the owner an email this evening. They must not sleep!

Thanks Suki - I'm still shopping a bit for airfare but I'm just about ready to press send on our flight!

Rose, That was nice of him to put it on the calendar for you with just an email. We arrive in Paris the day you leave. There are so many great shops, clothes, jewelry, novelities, etc.. and good restaurants around you, you made a good neighborhood choice. Walk off some pastries for me!
