People who rely on hotel stars don't understand the star rating system in France, I think.
I have been staying in hotels in Paris for well over 35 years and have never paid anything close to $300 a night; $150 is a lot for me. But maybe I'm a lot less picky than the OP.

Did WOINPARIS no longer have an account? I was trying to narrow down search by looking at his threads, unfortunately it says the user is not active.>
He is active - it is one and the same and Whathello who keeps changing his screen name for some reason. Under old names has given really great Paris advice as he works in Paris a lot though is a Belgian (but don't hold that against him!)
I found one woinParis hotel thread:

I think location would be the better topic here - rather than the amount of money and "stars" to be spent.
All you have to do is Google "The 10 Best Hotels in Paris" and you'll find what you're looking for.

PARISWAT is WoinParis is Whathello. He switches to a new name every now and then for whatever reason. He is a veritable Paris hotel encyclopedia as he stays in the city several nights during the week from his home in Belgium and does an on line search for the best last minute hotel deal for those nights. He is amazing as he Velos through Paris in all kinds of weather, knows the city like the back of his hand. His recommendations are completely reliable.
Whathello: trust its okay to "out" you.

Perfectly ok. I changed my name because I didn't want to post too much under one name and thus leave too big a trail.
But Woinparis is dead and now so is Whathello.
Pariswat is still alive for the moment and I may use it in the future but I'm out for now. My last post is on Forum help. Who knows when/ifever Fodors switches to the new platform I may send PM's but right now, as I said, I prefer to read a book than be on a travel forum - whatever travel forum.
I'm always game for a GTG with such nice people as you Travel or FF, or StCirq or Ker or or etc but I've been more than enough here and have said all I had to say and more.
Have fun.

Whathello quit the forum. Took down their account completely
<I would like to know if 7th and 8th arrondissements are quite central?>
A map will shows this better than I can explain but the numbering goes in a spiral (like a snail) so any of the lower numbers are reasonably central to city center (the 1st).

`He takes breaks occasionally and then comes back. Some of us are in touch with him regularly and will know what`s happening.
We had a really nice day and evening here in the Dordogne with yestravel and her husband and my best friend and a neighbor. Just lovely. Nice when Fodorites connect in person during their travels.

I had lunch with some delightful Anyporters from South Africa today and have another lunch planned next week with an Anyporter from England, so I just don't have time for meals with most Fodorites, although I hope to see nukesafe again on his next visit to Paris (then again, he is an Anyporter as well).
