Paris 11th Apartment
Hi all,
Here I am again needing Paris info. Did Nice in May and now feel the pull back to Paris. I love the 11th. Anyone know of reasonable apartment in the 11th with lift and A/C? 500-700 euros weekly if possible. Usually stay Price Eugene on Voltaire but interested in possiblility of apartment studio . Planning end of July, August holiday next year.
Thanks

We visited it in May and were struck by the beautiful garden, which would be lovely to sit in during the summer months. I don't think there is A/C though, but it is within your budget and there is an elevator. We will probably rent it next fall.

ParisJo - if you stop back here again - I have been looking at this apartment for my daughter and I for a week in December. It's slightly more than I wanted to spend but it's very lovely. I am wondering if you would recommend it for that time given we most likely wouldn't be enjoying the garden?

nicerue50 - I'm looking for an economical hotel for November and just checked out the website of the Prince Eugene and it looks good. What can you tell me about the area. I have always stayed in the 5th ,6th, or 4th and don't really know this area at all but the price is right.
Also, I see you were in Nice, did you write a trip report and/or post any photos? Did you do any day trips? I'll be there for four nights and am looking for trip reports to get an idea of how much I can fit in. (I'll have 3 nights Paris/4 Nice/ 4 Paris).

Hi guys,
Travellingmom3, I think you would still enjoy the apartment in December. Although you probably wouldn't go out in the garden during that time, you would get great natural light from those large windows during the day. I know I would like just being able to see such beautiful scenery outside my door even if I couldn't sit outside.
Tod, the apartment is actually down one level on the elevator, but that is because you go up stairs into the lobby. It is on the ground floor, but is surrounded by high fences and backs onto another building, so it is very safe.
You can't believe that you are in the middle of Paris when you are sitting in the garden. We were there for over an hour chatting with the owner and all we heard were birds chirping. You have the luxury of your own private garden and feel like you are in the middle of the country when you are in the middle of bustling Paris, close to everything you need, including good bus and metro connections, bakeries, cheese shops, grocery shops, wine stores (very important!), etc. It really is a gem and very reasonably priced for all the extras you get ~ WiFi, free phone calls to North America, free cable TV with English stations, everything you need to have a comfortable stay in Paris.
Hoe this helps...........Jo

ParisJo,
You've sold me - hands down! Plus my daughter loved it also which is important so she'll be comfortable and sleep well!
Thanks so much. If there are any other tidbits you'd like to share about the area I'd love them too as this is my first trip to Paris.

If anyone wants to read more about my trips, here is the link to my blog:
www.slowtrav.com/blog/joden
There's lots of details (maybe too much)about where we went, what we ate and drank, and all the great stuff we did (ballet at the Opera, Simply Red concert at the Olympia, chocolate tour, cooking class with Daniel Rose of Spring fame), etc.
Have a wonderful trip!

Hi Isabel,
We have stayed at the Prince Eugene twice 2007 &2008. I love the area. Very close to Nations. Easy walk to Bastille. The hotel rooms have mini fridge so excellent for water etc... We always have room on front (Voltaire) windows close all noise from street and beautiful open on nice days. Shower small (as usual) but all the pressure and hot water you want. Staff very friendly. Nice we did day trips on bus. St Paul de Vence, Antibes, Menton . The bus is 1 euro each way. Easy to do. We stayed at Le Lido. It's directly behind Negresco. In old bldg.Young couple bought 1st floor and renovated totally. Would stay there again. Anything else ?

Isabel, I haven't stayed there (although checked for availability for my upcoming trip and it was full) but I have been to the area several times. I think it's lovely, residential with many shops and restaurants and a great market on the nearby Cours de Vincennes every Wednesday and Saturday. I would gladly stay there.

ANYONE looking for a VERY cheap (that's cheap/budget + not nasty) apartment in central Paris needs to visit a website that I came across after days and days of web page sifting!! All of the reviews I've read about these apartments have been really good. I've just booked one for a few nights for our family of four and it is only costing us 200 euro for the lot. Basic, clean, cheaply furnished, very central and most self catering kitchens + your own bathroom - it's all one needs!! Many apartments are no more than 50-60euro/night!!! I have to share it with you:
www.centreparis.com
They have a very good variety of apartments in different areas at really good prices that I haven't seen elsewhere on the net. Their website is a little tricky to navigate, but once you get into the swing of it, it's ok.
Before I booked, I checked out google maps and did a virtual walk up the street where the apartment we were interested in is located - just to get a feel for the area. Very swish.
Booking was fine with very good and prompt communication.
All the best

Try the company where I usually rent apartments myself. I don't know very well the 11th because I like to stay in Montmartre when I go to Paris but they might have something:
