The big shopping item is good fake pearls. You've probably seen the Majolica pearls advertised (Mallorca is sometimes spelled Majorca.) I'm not sure they're any cheaper from a little shop on a winding back street in Palma than from the Duty Free on board ship, but it's more fun buying them at the source.

Hi Fran,

Mallorca is very beautiful Island and very popular among European tourists. A lot of moviestars own houses there, f.e. Michael Douglas, his wife was born there. The Spanish king Juan Carlos always stays there half of the summer.
Good links are:
http://www.mallorcaservice.com
http://www.mallorcaweb.com
Both are available in English.
Besides bying pearls which Myriam mentioned you can by nice leather goods in town called Inka. And you have to try Ensaimadas, a pastry which is a speciality of Mallorca.
Have fun

Miriam

Was in Palma de Mallorca for 5 days in Sept of 1998. It was a wonderful city. We stayed at the Hotel bon Sol. It was incredible, but kinda expensive. We enjoyed Palma, and rented a scooter to run around the edge of the island, and found some of the most beautiful vistas we have ever seen. One Cove had a fabulous seafood restaurant right on the water.

Eric

HAs beautiful rooms, a stunning pool, nice grounds and great food.

I am scheming to get back there ASAP on holiday this time!

(No tehy dont usually put us up in 5* on business trips, this was a special one off. Usually we get dumped in a hotel full of club18-30 type people or Superfamily hotels!!!
